If you've never been in the presence of a day-old calf, they happen to be disconcertingly large. Recently I followed onethe color and size of a golden retrieveras it stumbled around Diane St. Clair's barn, bleating loudly. Rain pounded on the roof, my boots were spattered with mud, and my neck ached after a five-hour drive. But it hardly mattered. I'd come to this sparsely populated corner of western Vermont to taste the country's most sought-after butter.

NO.
No. Next question.
This opening sounds like an entry in the Bulwer-Lytton Bad Writing Contest.
Kate's from Maine is very good; for baking, daily use, I prefer. Cabot's Vermont butter.
No....but one of these days, I’m gonna try Kerrygold.
is there a difference in the cows or something? Sorry I could not resist. LOL
If you’re really into butter and have the scratch, why not?

Happy New Year!

$50 a pound.....nice work if she can get it, and seems she can, and treats her cows well.
But for me, regular butter was great.
Im still irritated with gun powder above $20s a pound. Oh and beer above $2s a six pack. No way Im putting that stuff on my popcorn at the rate the Dems require I watch and eat it. No.
My thought too. Just get to the point. As far as the butter is concerned, it depends. If any rich snob in a blind taste test can taste the difference, then yes. In the meantime, why pay fifty dollars a pound for butter? Excellent butter is produced all over the world. But I guess we really need the freedom to pay what we want, even for a snob.
“No. Next question.”
Why not?
Personal taste.
Are you going to put it on a $125 loaf of bread?
A $200/lb NY Strip?
The real question is if you whip up a batch of "boutique" butter, market it to an exclusive clientele with disposable income, and charge $50 a pound for it, will these people buy it?
Yes, they will.
Yes
If it’s that good I’ll try it once.
These must be the contented cows you were looking for.
My mouth is watering! Just add a good bottle of wine!
