As a native Texan, some of my earliest memories involve Whataburger. I love Whataburger. It's always been a matter of pride that me and Whataburger share the same birth city, Corpus Christi, Texas.
As a youngster, I remember the Whataburger on 14TH street in Kingsville, Texas. Since those days, I have always seen Whataburger as a step above any "fast food" burger out there. I absolutely love that I can walk into a Whataburger at 7 AM and order a burger. So the sellout to a Chicago investment company hit me hard.
I tried to maintain a wait and see attitude. Well, I can confirm the worst. The food quality and portion size are down.
Monday before Christmas I walked into the same Whataburger I have visited many times and ordered my usual. 38 minutes later, I had my burger and fries, which I had ordered to go. (I never go through the drive through, just a thing).
My order was wrong, not like I got somebody elses order, just wrong. Nothing what I had asked for happened. The burger was noticeably smaller ,and was the worst burger I've ever had from Whataburger.
It hurts me to the core to say this, but I'm done with Whataburger. It's right up there with McDonalds as far as I'm concerned/
Two words: White Castle.
[[[If you must, Culvers butter burgers.]]]
I can hear the blood sloshing through my veins just thinking about it. LOL
My favorite burger chain is Fuddrucker’s.
Fwiw, when I returned from overseas, I headed to WHATABURGER for a “double double” = DISAPPOINTED doesn’t come near to how disgusted that I felt that day.
Just NOT the same place, as when I went OCONUS for sure.

Im kind of leaning on a double cheese burger California style at Freddy,s.
I like Fuddruckers. Best burger of the bunch.
I have been in Texas 8 years. I have never been able to stand WB. Tasteless patties the width of a peice of paper in way too much breading. They have the audacity to call a cheesburger on Texas toast a Patty Melt?
there is a Tommy’s near where I work in CA along with an In N Out and Carls Jr. Hamburger happy!
Freddy’s steakburgers. Our new favorite when we moved to TN from the Northeast.
DblDbl,
4 bucks
and I’m Good!
5 Guys burgers have gotten noticeably smaller. They are now 3.2 oz patties. Used to be 4 oz. patties.
Fries are still great.
Tried Burger IM a few weeks ago. Burgers have 1/4 pound dry-aged ground beef. If was fabulous. Just dont get the onion rings; not very good since they are pulled out of a bag of frozen rings. If onion rings arent made in house, dont bother.
I grew up in Louisiana. WB was my fave. I moved away 7 years ago and often thought about a WB when/if I go back to visit. Sad to hear they might not be what I remember.
Jack in the Box
Has a Chicken sammy
That smokes
Chick-fil-A!!!
Five Guys. The cajun fries will be available in Heaven.
Who told you to go to whataburger? I voted for white castle!
In and Out burgers are, BY FAR, the best!
So happy we have one in our area of TX, now.
Grew up loving Whataburgers, can’t stand them, now.
The problem with JITB is it just has too many menu items. By and large their burgers are just Ok but their tacos suck. Never tried the chicken. Maybe next time.
The Tacos are
Just finger food,
An Appetizer.
Great after Surfing
or Skate Boarding,
Dude!
When I was in the US in 80s and 90s, service seemed to be getting better and better and faster and faster. Now service sucks and people have entitled attitudes on the phone when they do not understand what you want.
SEIU and liberal indoc has their effects.
I miss George and John’s in Farmington NM back in the 1970s!
I feel your pain. Whataburger can be added to the long list of carpetbaggin’ trash along with the Bush clan.
