Males Are Faring Much Worse Than Females: Busting the Myth of Male Privilege in a Single Chart
PJ Media ^ | 12/26/2019 | Matt Margolis

Male privilege is a concept in radical feminism that claims that men have greater access to social, economic, and political advantages or rights based on their sex.

Mark Perry, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, destroys the myth of male privilege in a freshly updated chart titled: "For Every 100 Girls/Women..."

According to Perry, the data in the table show that based on a large number of measures, "boys and men are faring much worse than girls and women." Perry explains, "Despite the fact that boys and men are at so much greater risk than girls and women on so many different measures, those significant gender disparities that disproportionately and adversely affect men get almost no attention." He added, "It’s girls and women who get a disproportionate amount of attention, resources, and financial support."

He cited as examples the wide availability of women's centers and commissions on college campuses, and the lack of men's equivalents; the disproportionately high number of women-only scholarships, fellowships, awards and initiatives for female students and faculty; girls-only STEM programs and organizations, many of which, interestingly enough, are being challenged for violating Title IX.

The chart itself is quite fascinating, did you know that for every 100 girls/women who take AP/Honors courses in art and music, there are only 54 boys/men? For every 100 girls/women who earn an associate's degree, there are only 63 boys/men who accomplish the same feat. There are only 73 boys/men enrolled in a U.S. graduate school or who have earned at least a master's degree (between the ages of 25-29) for every 100 girls/women. For a doctor's degree, it's 90 boys/men for every hundred girls/women.

This chart shows two things.

1. Our educational system favors women.

2. Men are more prone to crime and violence.

As one who has taught in higher ed, I do feel sorry for the young white men who brave the environment.

But almost as much as it harms young white men to get a drumbeat message of how inherently evil they are, it doesn’t help young women and minority students to get sucked up to all the time either.

Still, the white dudes are probably fortunate to be smart enough not to stick around for the failure of higher ed if they can avoid it.

The Left has officially rejected concepts like Truth and Objective Reality. They embrace Fantasy and build their worldview around it.

Great chart. One thing I have learned from Jordan Peterson (and I’ve looked into the research) - the more sexually egalitarian a society is (ie. Scandanavia) the MORE people conform to gender roles in society, and especially in career choices.

Ie) when given complete freedom, women CHOOSE paths that leftists would consider stereotypically female.

In addition, more men are supporting women than women supporting men, I’d guess.

If each person who believes these numbers are unjust or tragic would choose one item and make it a personal cause to improve the odds for one man/boy, think of all the good that would be done.

For most of human history, work was manual labor and the men were favored because they were stronger. In America’s Information Age the women as a group are better as office clerical workers. Women’s hands and fingers are better at typing and or keyboarding. In the Democrat inner city the guys are getting killed by gangs while the girls are just simply getting pregnant for the government money. The service economy combined with the Information Age technologies is favorable towards women. I do not want to type. I am a guy. And like Red Green says, If you can’t be handsome be handy. The honey do list keeps the wife happy at the office while the husband drives the delivery van.

I was taught to use the actuary’s ‘rule of thumb’, which is to make a private survey of everyone you know/know of and use that to check against a guess or a stat. It is only approximate, of course, and depends on how wide your field of acquaintances might be.

That said, I can think of three families, 2 millennial and one boomer, where the wife has a professional degree and works in her field, while the husband does not and is the child-carer and general homemaker. In the boomer couple, they are both equivalent professionals in the medical field, no children, the wife is actively working while the husband has taken early retirement and pursues hobbies.

Ie) when given complete freedom, women CHOOSE paths that leftists would consider stereotypically female.

And when men or boys show any interest in those stereotypically female pursuits, they are labelled as "transgender." I think this is often the issue when a very young boy, age 10 or less, is paraded around as a "transgender" by his liberal mother.

It mentioned that girls are more likely to take "AP/Honors" math courses in high school. This phrasing seems designed to evoke a "Oh, poor boys!" reaction, because the real data on AP exams is:

Female and male students took AP exams in calculus AB, statistics and chemistry at roughly the same rates in 2013. However, males were more likely to take advanced level AP exams, including calculus BC, physics B and physics C.

The site didn't show scores by sex, and I'm not going to go hunting for it. It suffices to say that this is probably not the only tendentious formulation in the piece of propaganda.

Please not that I am not using the term "propaganda" to mean "something that is inaccurate. I am using it in its true mean of "communication that is intended to create a specific belief in the consumer."

I don’t think they do ... I think they just make much more of a show about it.

100 men for every woman incarcerated...
Obviously more women need to be incarcerated!
I could name a bunch...

It shows that women chose to take majors in liberal arts. That is a far different course of study than a STEM oriented curriculum.
