A proposal for a $569 million bond to build two new high school buildings in Midland failed by 25 votes in the November election, a margin slim enough it set off calls for a recount.
The ballots were recounted manually, and to the delight of Midland ISD officials, the results flipped and the proposal passed by a margin of 11 votes.
But last week, a Midland elections staffer found a box on the bottom of a shelf in the office containing 836 ballots that werent tallied in the recount. Those votes threaten to again reverse the election results, which school officials are counting on to generate hundreds of millions of dollars for school construction.
The elections office obtained a court order to open the ballot box on Monday morning, when staffers began to count up the missing votes.

Anyone asking why Midland needs two new high schools?
http://censusviewer.com/city/TX/Midland
Hispanics 2000 Census = 29.13% Hispanics 2010 Census = 37.61%
Today, unoffical numbers show Hispanics are over 42% and 3% lower than Midland's white population. They wouldn't need new schools if ICE would deport all their illegals.
Breaking the law again! Let me guess, the box was found by a democrat election worker.
This is why people who say that elections should be run on the basis of hand counted paper ballots are insane.
No security, no chain of custody, no verification of validity, any same person would say “yeah, no. They don’t get counted.”
If it has just been found then the chain of custody must not have been maintained according to the law and the votes in it should be uncertifiable.
Thanks to the despots on the SCOTUS in the 1980s, Texas has been forced to educate Mexicos peasant children, many here illegally, for decades. Most dont graduate from High School, but they learn enough English to apply for freebies.
And of course autocorrect changed “sane” to “same”.
I hate technology.
People who believe that votes should be electronic should be drawn and quartered and then poured through a woodchipper into a hog trough at feeding time.
Did any money go for "footboawo" stadiums?
Downsize public schools, enact school choice.
If sanity prevailed.
We aren’t dealing with sane people.
Practice for the 2020 election....
Aha, the old found missing ballot box trick. Works everytime...for democrats.
Dems are always “finding” ballot boxes that just happen to swing the elections to their side.
This always baffles me about election recounts. It seems that often someone discovers a box of ballots that were never counted in the first place.
If it were up to me, election ballots would be handled the way we handle money in retailing. In retailing cash drawers are counted and if money is missing, someone is held accountable. It seems to me something similar should happen with the election ballots. If a certain Precinct has not turned in their ballots on election day, then, someone is going to be in trouble.
This business of suddenly finding ballots that were not counted is just too too convenient for the Democrats. Whenever these events happen, the resulting additional votes almost always seem to benefit the Democrat candidate or the Democrats side of an issue.
There are laws that do say that. But Dems get liberal judges to ignore the law.
$536 million to build a couple of freaking schools ? are you kidding me?
I live here in Marin County and they just build two new state of the art buildings for our precious little middle schoolers and I think the price tag on that was like 25 million and I thought that was outrageous
Yup. Easy to create an audit system for voting. If the tally odes not match the election results are on hold.
Doesn’t take that much money to build two schools. I wonder who they have to pay off.

we don’t like the results so find me some more ballots...
