You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better. Albert Camus
First two words start it off...lots of double letters. Filled it in as I read through it the first time, came back for stragglers.
ABCB!!!
Huh?
I got it! I like that the authors name is just word, kinda like the ancient Greeks. Once the letters start falling into place, these things really solve themselves.
That was fast and easy once I solved ALL the “the’s.”
< 2min.
The word after the comma, the letter “E”, the first word, off to the races.
Make Cryptograms Great Again.
Nice and simple!
Same strategy.
1 minute and holy moly that was a long quote! Best one ever! :)
I knew it was him, so I rocketed through. That is a great quote.
Yes.As like Caesar or Cicero or Buddha or can we say it? Jesus
Did you mean to say, ABCA?
Hard to see why people in the ‘country of origin’ don’t understand this...
Or WON’T!!!!
ABCB
ABCB!!...lol
Saw a wall of text and my eyes glazed over. This will take all day! Where to start? beginning, middle, end? The twentieth word popped out. From then on it was just mindlessly filling in the letters. The last letter to fill was the author’s fourth letter. Took me
ONE MINUTE!
Love the author!!!!!
He’s THE BEST!
Come on guys, it’s ZJFJ!
