While obesity is primarily associated with weight gain, a new study suggests it triggers inflammation in the nervous system that could damage important regions of the brain.
Developments in MRI, like diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), a technique that tracks the diffusion of water along the brain's signal-carrying white matter tracts, have enabled researchers to study this damage directly.
"Brain changes were found in obese adolescents related to regions responsible for control of appetite, emotions and cognitive functions," said study co-author Pamela Bertolazzi from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
The World Health Organisation (WTO) data indicates the number of overweight or obese infants and young children increased from 32 million in 1990 to 41 million in 2016 globally.
For the study, researchers compared DTI results in 59 obese and 61 healthy adolescents, aged 12-16 years.
From DTI, the researchers derived a measure called fractional anisotropy (FA), which correlates with the condition of the brain's white matter. A reduction in fractional anisotropy is indicative of increasing damage in the white matter.
The results showed reduction of FA values in the obese adolescents in regions located in the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve fibre that connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

Actually, brain damage can cause obesity quite often.
Sitting home recovering forever gets Boring and the meals start becoming more frequent.
combined with the fact that you can’t do much, sometimes for a very long time.
But i believe inflammation causes a lot of problems also

I think being a food addict is awful. It’s a damn you do or don’t situation. My sister in law has it bad.
I think people that make fun of it are assholez. They are schiff to me.
I truly wish God would stop it. But because God will not, tells me man must solve it. It is the way of God.

I’m a little confused. I remember when our elites were reminding me that the children of the world (particularly in China) were dying en masse from disease and starvation. Were they wrong?. Was obesity the real reason? Naw, it’s only climate change, racism, and other excuses. Just ask them, but don’t ask the abortionist, he has a plan and a cure of his own.
As a Christian, I chose to believe GOD has the only plan and I have a destiny to fulfill.

I know what happened. I was there.
Was 220 before brain injury and after FIVE years of being home, and MOST of the time with AGONIZING headaches, i got to 440 pounds!!!!! you read that right.
Depression, don’t feel well enough to do anything. Lost your job and your future and most of your friends, family stops visiting after a while...and much more.
I’m at 280 now and it’s a fight to get back to where I was.
My little cat buddy Spaghetti and a female friend got me through it.
Stress or boredom or loneliness or pain can cause weight gain.
It’s funny, you sometimes can’t TELL if a person is a heron, gambling, roxy, perc, cocaine, klonopin, alcohol addict or not just buy looking at them.
You can’t tell if they beat the sh.t out of their wife and kids every night.
But you SURE AS HELL can tell when they’re overweight :)
So it’s an easy target.
And honestly, i’ve had friends and family make cracks, but relatively harmless and I laughed at some :)
But i’ve also been called that walking the streets and that I DO NOT FORGIVVE.

One of my friends in school weighed 220 pounds. He was 12 years old. During football games he would tackle me and sit on my face. That is why I am the way I am today. Brain damage from obesity.
