I had a patient who had his Whipple in 1989, was stented, had 17 recurrent septic episodes and died in 2016.
Very unusual, obviously.
But the new protocols for metastatic pancreatic cancer are producing some very significant remissions, lasting 3+ years in some cases.
Salvage therapy still isn't very good, though.
My boss would rally and return to work after every incident, but the two of us coworkers who were also his close friends could see that it took more effort each time to bounce back-he worked with us on bids and we 3 got deli takeout and had lunch at my place on the deck one Saturday-when I hugged him as he was leaving, I could feel that he was just bones under his shirt-he said see y’all Monday, but I think we both knew we wouldn’t see him alive again-we were right-he lost the battle-died in his sleep that Sunday night-I miss his courage and determination-best friend and boss I’ve ever had...
JH has the best of about everything in the Baltimore/DC area.
Actually, while I am not saying it’s all bad, a lot of the personnel I have worked with in the DC area, believe it to be one of the worst areas for medical care.
Many talk like this after a little experience.

Did he have PanCan? They changed the chemo mix about a year ago.
The infection doesn’t kill them, it’s the failure of organs.
(My wife has it. I know more about it than I would ever wish on anyone.)
OTOH, as a hardened anti-communist patriot, I look at a picture of her when she was a very very pretty young lady and wonder where or what took her to the dark side...
No-he had a malignant brain tumor-it had been diagnosed and treated about 5 years previously and after a few months of chemo, he was in remission and healthy again-but it came back with a vengeance about 3 years later-they tried several different chemo treatments and for awhile it looked as if he would be okay again.

It’s okay Pence would replace Trump. OTH I firmly believe that if Trump is removed the demonrats will then go after Pence to stop a SCOTUS nomination and confirmation before the next election. When I say go after Pence I mean they will impeach him also before the next election. This puts Pehosi as Prez and she nominates. So no matter we are screwed.

The one thing that Pelosi and the CA RATS do very well is monitor the Supreme Court.
They have seen this coming since Hillary lost.
It is the whole reason for all the attacks of the last 3 years.

Actually I made an estimate that RBG doesn’t make it to 2020
in 2016, the plan was for Hillary to win, replace RBG with Holder and two other radicals instead of Gorsuch and Kavanaugh
We would have had a militant Supreme Court setup to destroy the 2nd Amendment and free speech.
Net Neutrality would control the message, FR would be closed under threats of lawsuits.
Facebook would become the gateway to internet identification and banking.
Obama was going to get a lead roll at the UN.
It was all setup.....until Hillary lost.
We came very close to the end of the USA as we know it.
My only issue is that we common folk would be kicked to the curb if we presented with these medical issues.
