Great stuff there, though kinda quiet in winter.
I get bulbs from the box stores when they’re half price, should be happening soon. Very pleased with the results.
But not Crocuses! They’re like 3 inches tallQ What’s the use?
Tulips are amazing though- “cheap and easy”: my gardening criteris!
Planting Fall Bulbs is SO worth the effort - especially if you live somewhere with gawd-awful winters like we do. Those first Crocus and Daffs make you want to LIVE again, LOL!
Pinging our Garden Thread...
My faves are Crocus (Jeann D'Arc is a HUGE, beautiful white) and Siberian Squill.
I’m adding you to my Ping List! Glad to have you!
Will PING you this upcoming Saturday with the new thread. :)
If anyone else here wants to join, ping me here, or send me a message and I’ll add you, too. :)
>ping<
Amen to that! I just put in a bunch of red tulips and yellow daffodils.
We just crossed...I pinged the gang in Post #24. Got a new member! Woo-Hoo! ;)
When we’re done with painting the house and re-roofing, and adding a few more raised beds for my Rose and Herb Gardens, and building my Chicken Coop and then the Pole Barn, I’ll be a bulb-planting MANIAC, LOL!
I kinda need to see where all that other stuff is going to go before I go really nuts. ;)
And I also need to add a TON of Hydrangea. That is the one thing I miss the most from my old farm. I had six different varieties and I really miss having fresh and/or dried Hydrangea at my fingertips!
But - that’s what gardening/landscaping is all about. There’s always something new to add. Food for the SOUL, Baby! :)
I’m already itching for spring! LOL!
I’m SO sick of processing pie pumpkins and Butternut Squash! I’m not going to do this to myself again. EVER!
(OK, maybe a few!) LOL! They’re so darn easy to grow but are SO time consuming to process. We don’t have a Root Cellar yet, so that would help a lot.
I’ll post some pictures of my Pumpkin & Squash harvest on our thread this week or next. Remember - there are TWO of us in this household, now. Just. Two. ;)
Not only are those abundant veggies, they are also BIG and HEAVY!
I decided to plant a few near my backstairs and followed the directions to the letter.
Because I did the planting at the wrong time of year I was disappointed when they didn't come up.
The winter came and went and one day I was going up the back stairs and saw some activiy.
Eventually the flowers came up and bloomed and I learned the hard way that the time to plant is very important. - Tom
I found an auger bit at our local garden store that attaches to our drill. It bored holes big enough for the daffodil bulbs. Hubby drilled 80 holes, put in some bone meal, the bulbs and covered them up just on Saturday. We used a smaller auger nit for crocus bulbs. He drilled 80 holes and we planted them! Then I went to a local big grocery store and bought the biggest container of cayenne pepper they had. I spread that over the ground where the bulbs are to prevent the squirrels from feasting on them.
I just bought 100 Daffodil bulbs that I must plant soon...
I’m doing air layered stuff....for Bonsai.
I found it, but looks like there hasnt been a new one since July. Ill keep checking back. Thanks

A co-worker was totally into Bonsai. She created some really lovely plants! It’s an amazing art form, for sure. :)
For anyone looking to do something new and exciting with their Pumpkins/Squashes this year, Libby’s has the answer!
I am making Pumpkin Chili tomorrow. It’s basically your favorite Chili recipe, but add a can of pumpkin puree. Ta-Da! LOL!
(Adds no flavor, but adds thickness and fiber.)
