Amen, FRiend. Amen.

It is the deepest love, that they trust that we will do what is right for them, even though it breaks our hearts.

And then we know, when we look into their eyes, and see thankfulness.

If I get another kitty it’ll look like yours - already have a name for it: Side Stick since that’s the controls of the Airbus321 I fly.

Thank you so much for sharing your heart and love for your friend. It made think of all the pets I’ve lost in a way to familiar manner. It also made me think of all of my current babies, their individual mannerism and habits and most importantly how I love them all.

Seen in a vet office. I love the respect shown by the staff, to do something like this. Tough time.

Thank you for sharing that heartfelt post-Titus, my orange guy jumped onto my chair the minute I got in from work and sat down at my desk, and he is asleep here-he is 14 and very healthy and active-I hope he lives long, like nearly all of my pets have-the thought of losing any of them is too sad...

What a loving tribute to your little guy. I read it all, but it took a good long while, as I had to keep wiping my eyes. We are all so lucky to have them in our lives, but so miserable when we lose them.

Sympathies to you and your wife. We’ve been through it and we know the pain. It’s some consolation knowing that it was the best choice and the right thing to do, but it still hurts.

That picture mad me smile because we hve a bookcase here in our living room that is right under a window and our cat likes to stretch out there and watch the neighborhood.

It’s their job, you know. They’re protecting their families.

I am very sorry for your loss.

We are cursed with living so much longer than our beloved pets.

He was a real cutie.

Thank you all for commenting.

Whenever I start a thread (which isn’t often, I had to take a look and my stats said “You’ve posted a total of 139 threads and 67,084 replies”, so I talk a lot more than I direct conversation...there is a surprise) I usually like to respond to everyone who takes the time to drop in and comment.

But I had to take a break from the thread, because it is still quite painful for me right now. I shouldn’t have started it on Sunday night, because after I did that, I had a slide show in my head and pain in my heart as I lay in bed, and even two sleeping pills didn’t help. I was useless at work...utterly useless.

I knew I would miss him, but this little guy got his polydactyl paws on my heart, and I ache.

I just ache.

Big tough guy I try to project on occasion, but...I sure don’t feel like one. I feel like the smallest, weakest child who just had his most prized pet leave forever.

Never thought his loss would hurt me in this intense way, perhaps just because I am entering the winter of my life, and these things feel different.

But...I guess there is always spring. I can always hope there is spring.

There is a spring as you say. The pain eases and you fondly enjoy the good memories in time.

Adopting a kitty that REALLY needs a loving home will help, I had to put my 18 yr old to sleep 3 weeks ago OMG just thought I was going to ache forever!! Last week I went to the shelter and adopted a kitty, it of course is not the same, HOWEVER having another kitty crawling on my keyboard, meowing to be fed, jumping on EVERYTHING in the house has helped me SO MUCH, this kitty is SO GRATEFUL to be out of that cage and he has repaired my heart!!! His name is LUCKY because he is very lucky I chose him, I actually wanted to take them ALL home !!!!! LOL!!!

Three of our four cats (all old) died within the last 7 months. Words do not describe the pain and sadness Mr. Roo Roo and I have felt.

The last cat we had to euthanize died on July 22nd. Even though we still have one cat, it does not help the pain of losing the others.

Even though my heart wasn’t totally in it, last Friday I adopted two litter-mate kittens, a boy and a girl, 2 months old. Even though I still miss my old cats terribly, these kittens have stolen my heart and make us laugh when we couldn’t before.

I got the kittens from the local ASPCA shelter. I read recently that 71% of cats in shelters don’t find homes, get put to sleep. Black cats in particular have a hard time finding homes because people can be superstitious (especially Hispanics).

So even though my heart is still heavy, I believe the new kittens are the antidotes Mr. Roo Roo and I needed.
