Eating a cup of yogurt a day may lower your risk of developing lung cancer, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that those who ate a daily serving of yogurt lowered their risk of the disease by 20 percent compared to those who did not eat yogurt every day.

And people who ate a serving of yogurt a day - along with a high fiber diet - were able to lower their risk of lung cancer by more than 30 percent.

Studies have shown some probiotics, live bacteria found in yogurt, have anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties.

The team, from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, says its findings show that consuming dairy shouldn't be discouraged - and that a reexamination of the potential benefits of dairy is needed.

I wish I could find whole milk yogurt at the store, but they don’t seem to have it.

It costs more than $2/qt, but both Stonybrook Farms and Dannon make a readily available whole milk yogurt. Which store do you go to? And where?

The trouble with yogurt is the all the sugar. My probiotic has ZERO sugar.

Plain yogurt typically does not have sugar (except whatever sugars are present in the milk base).

“Stay away from “sugar free” anything! That stuff will kill you!”

Hasn’t killed me!

Early in life. But we theorize it was more environmental due to several issues..or a combination off both.

I am pretty sure my genetic test from Myriad Genetics included lung cancer and I came up clear...which means nothing really.

Another big thing in fighting cancer are anti-parasitic drugs such as a dog de-wormer,

Great, I have a niece who is a vet. I'll get some from her.......

this is an excellent yogurt, and it’s dairy-free because it’s made from goat milk:

https://redwoodhill.com/products/traditional-plain-yogurt/

and here’s an excellent probiotic:

https://www.customprobiotics.com/custom-probiotics-11-strain.htm

and an inexpensive pre-biotic, to feed lower gut bacteria:

https://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-ultra-inulin-powder-8-oz-227-grams-pwdr

i pretty much have to take this stuff regularly since a course of levaquin for a kidney infection totally nuked my gut biome ...

Carrots and broccoli are good.

Can you eat rice crackers?

I’m smoking 2 packs of yogurt a day and feel just awful.

Should I be vaping yogurt instead?

I believe that it’s very healthy, and I wish I could eat yogurt, but almost the thought of it triggers my gag reflex. When DH eats it I have to leave the room because of the smell. There are health things I have sometimes that I know would be helped by yogurt, but I just can’t do it. Is there a substitute? Is acidophilus as good?

I don’t have allergies to anything. Just trying to minimize what I use for the experiment since psoriasis is such a mystery. I only have it in one spot on my whole body which is so weird. Thank god I don’t suffer like so many

All of this going back to nature didn’t work out too well for Euel Gibbons.

The most expeditious solution is for local incineration and co-generate electric power.

Whole milk yogurt isn’t easy to find, but once I found a store that carried it, I found it tasted much better than the 2% and the 0% fat varieties. I don’t add anything to it.

Live culture yogurt and probiotics are going to be the big medical breakthrough of our generation.

On thing of interest I picked up at a conference is that in France they are supplementing the nutritional intake of premies with probiotics. These babies are leaving the neonatal ICUs with much better pulmonary function.

In traditional Chinese medicine, internal organs are paired - one yin (relatively solid) to one yang (relatively hollow), for each of the five elements.

For the metal element, the lungs are considered paired to large intestine. It doesn’t seem very intuitive (like the liver and gall bladder pair, or kidney and bladder), but over time, I have seen many correlations like this probiotic/lung cancer link, that seem to show a relationship in practice.

Most store bought yogurts in the US are not live culture. Check the label for contains “Live Culture”, not “Made With Live Culture”.

Most cultures are killed before they get out of the system. Kefir suppossedly is the only one that has cultures that make it all the way.
