The former “CBS This Morning” host — who is getting paid at least $7 million a year by CBS News boss Susan Zirinsky to revive the perennially third-ranked newscast — is getting hammered in the ratings worse than her predecessors did. In the last week alone, O’Donnell’s total viewers plunged 17 percent to 5.1 million, according to Nielsen. Among viewers in the crucial demographic ages 25 to 54 that’s coveted by advertisers, the drop was a heart-stopping 25 percent. The slide has steadily accelerated during the past month, with weekly ratings in the key age group falling between 20 and 29 percent versus a year ago. That’s far steeper than the single-digit drops during the year-and-a-half tenure of her predecessor Jeff Glor, who was pulling down $2 million a year, according to a source. “This is definitely unusual,” said television analyst Andrew Tyndall. “I don’t see any prospects of ‘CBS Evening News’ getting out of third place, but an honorable third versus a dismal third is possible.” It’s a troubling sign for CBS, whose evening newscast has been stuck in third place since the tail end of Dan Rather’s tenure, which ended in controversy over his reporting about President George W. Bush’s military service.

Its not merely because she’s anti-Trump. The entire corporate, mainstream, oligopolist mainstream media is anti-Trump.
Its because broadcast TV is a dying media. Its ownership and its ideology is become more and more concentrated, and that’s because it simply can’t compete with everything the internet has to offer for news.
I laugh at her ad’s when I watch CBS. They tell me that CBS is “News you can trust” I fall out of my chair laughing thinking about trust is not a state that I associate with CBS of the 7 million dollar woman. When someone is a liar and so anti Trump, go have coffee with Kelly and fight over who will pay fro it.
Does anyone actually believe that over 5,000,000 people actually watch the CBS evening news or for that matter any of the network newscasts. Would really like to see just how Nielsen does those “ratings”, how they are formulated and just who pays for them.

Does anyone still turn on their TVs to learn new "news"? I watch next to no TV news and honestly I think I'm more informed than 99.9% of the sheeple. Except for breaking events, and sports, my TV is dark most of the day.
Well, since I am usually up before 5:00AM and at work before these shows start, I’ve not made morning news shows a viewing habit in many years. Did like Joan Lunden on GMA and Kathleen Sullivan on This Morning back in the day though, lol.
Too bad Doctor Raoul isn’t around to see this. She was one of his favourite targets. I’m sure he’s laughing from above.
I don’t. I bet it’s similar to how Shepard Smith had such good ratings. Many cable boxes still tuned to last night’s program while the home owner is working today. The tv screen is off but the cable box is still sending tuned-to metrics back to corporate.
Imagine their ratings if they actually made a point of telling the truth. 62 million customers looking for some network to take their business.

And do the “viewers” actually WATCH most of the newscast or is it just background noise? I suspect the number of eyeballs that are focused for the entirety of the show is far below what is reported.

Why did they pay somebody millions of dollars to do this? I mean they could probably pick a name out of a hat , pay them minimum wage to read the news, and get better ratings.

Jeff Glor was somewhat even-handed in reporting the news. Now, it is CBS’ version of MSNBC. Can’t trust what they show.
You certainly have a way with words; you silver-tongued rascal. That was my thought precisely; only, probably not as succinct.
I watch 0 news. Or talk shows or Fox News. Or Anything else. And yes, I’m more informed than 99% of the public. I have a friend who is a tv news junkie. Thinks she’s really informed. She’ll email me something she thinks is off the wall but groundbreaking. My response is always.....I knew about that 1-2 weeks ago and that’s not the whole story. But she’ll tell you she is informed!
