President Donald Trump is an exaggerator who knew his policies wouldnt generate the 5% growth he had promised while campaigning, according to Stephen Moore, who served as a campaign advisor to Trump and was a prospective Fed nominee.
In an interview with Mehdi Hasan, columnist at The Intercept, Moore stopped just short of calling the president a liar, but did say Trump hurts himself with falsehoods.
He should stop saying things that are untrue, Moore says in a clip from Al Jazeera English television show that Hasan provided on his Twitter feed.
I think Trump is an exaggerator, and I think it gets him in trouble, Moore later says. Its like he said were going to get 5% growth. We knew we werent going to get 5% growth.

The economies growing quite nicely, thank you Pres. Trump.
Et tu Stephen?
The absolutely ONLY reason we haven’t is GOPe globalist obstruction of Trump’s efforts and initiatives.
Yep - Trump dares to dream big. You (Moore) are scared of your own shadow.
Moore has always been a Cheap Labor Express supporter.
Same with Larry Kudlow.
Hes right about the 5% growth, but he clearly still hasnt figured Trump out.
For the record ... I never believed candidate Donald Trump when he promised to have Bowe Berghdal thrown out of an airplane from 30,000 feet, but it was funny as hell and it probably got him a few votes. LOL.
Moore was nominated for a position with the Trump Administration. I don’t recall which one. The Dems started talking about how unqualified and compromised he was. Trump seemed to quickly give into pressure from the Dems and RINOs to withdraw is support for Steve. Mere days/weeks after the nomination, Steve Moore was convinced to withdraw his name from consideration.
Steve may still be steamed about that.
I probably would be too. It could be that there were not enough republicans to support him getting that position.
But most would expect the president to lobby hard for his nominees. It is still a high honor.
Thanks Steve. Now keep your mouth shut.
This guy is an open-borders acolyte from way back. No surprise he is sniping at Trump. He’s been GOPe forever.
I think enough RINO senators said they wouldn't vote to confirm.
Man!!! Backstabbers everywhere!! Our side stinks!!
Democrats and many republicans, are making sure that Trump’s economy doesn’t grow as much as Trump predicted.
Then there is the trade issue. If a trade with China had been pulled off, and if the Mexico/Canada trade deal had been approved by the democrat-controlled congress, growth would have been at least 1/2 a point, perhaps even a point, higher.
And then......
Growth of a big economy (like we have now) vs the growth of a lesser economy (under Obama and Bush 43 and before, gets a much bigger net growth. It’s like 3% of a million ends up being much greater than 3% of 1/2 million.
It’s why China’s 10% growth a decade ago was tiny compared to 2% growth of American’s HUGE economy.
Keep thinking Steve. That’s what you’re good at.
If he had more help from the Republican establishment he would have gotten 5%.

Have you noticed that the backstabbers are the ones who don’t get their dream job because they are hopelessly incompetent?
Judge Nap
Mittens Romney
Mooch
Mooreon
Oh and good old Mueller.
Trump needs to stop inter viewing. Target 1 person and ask if they want the job.
If I had heard him say that about that son of a bitch, that would have been reason enough to vote for him.
The shame of Obama pandering to that piece of crap and his leftist family.
Yeah, he called him a liar.
A nations GDP grows only two ways: Population growth and productivity growth. Our population growth is slow, and with massive numbers of new retiree every month we simply dont have the capacity to improve our productivity very much. This has nothing to do with politics and very little to do with economic policies.
