A nations GDP grows only two ways: Population growth and productivity growth. Our population growth is slow, and with massive numbers of new retiree every month we simply dont have the capacity to improve our productivity very much. This has nothing to do with politics and very little to do with economic policies.

Have you read "Accidental Superpower" by Peter Ziehan? That book pretty much confirms what you said above with real data.
The good news is that the U.S. is better positioned than any other nation to ride out the coming storm. Also, this book was written before the Trump presidency and if anything, Trump's policies will further smooth out the impact on Americans.
That book was recommended by LS and I felt much more optimistic for our future after having read it.
