Future Planes Will Track Lots of Data on Passengers, Including How Long They Spend in the Bathroom

The airplane of the future is almost here. And, according to experts, it will know everything about you as a passenger. Including how long you spend in the bathroom.

In early October, Airbus unveiled what it believes to be the future of its aircraft at an industry event in Los Angeles. It’s calling its new cabin the Airspace Connected Experience, CNN reported.

The new planes will come with a host of high-tech gadgets to assist crew members in ensuring passengers have an enjoyable — and safe — flight. The connected aircraft could also help save airlines a bundle of cash along the way by better understanding passenger needs.

Beyond bathrooms, each seat will also come pre-programmed to fit passenger needs and wants. That will include seat reclining preferences, dining preferences, and personalized in-flight entertainment preferences. And all of this information will be readily available to crew members, so they can provide guests with an even higher level of service with ease.

Though it’s unclear exactly when these connected airplanes will be available, Wuggetzer said you really can expect them in the future. As he said, “It’s not a concept. It’s not a dream.”

Haven’t set foot in an airport in fifteen years. The affirmative-action TSA goons piss me off so badly that I’d wind up on national news. They’ve done their last body-cavity search on me.

Will the advanced new coach seats have some type of device to keep the fat sweaty body parts of the people you are seated between from squishing up against you and dripping all over you. Because I could have used a seat like that on the fully loaded 5 hour flight I took back from Chicago.

Planes will now be another place where you will be monitored, recorded and your data sold to third parties. Some airlines are already doing it with their seat cameras that watch you throughout the flight.

Same here. I've flown my last. I'm still able to drive from coast to coast if need be.

We haven’t’ flown since 2006. Never again will will we step foot on any airport property. There is no place on this planet that I want to see or visit that requires an airplane.

I will NEVER fly again unless it was absolutely necessary which hopefully never happens again. My last flight was Philadelphia to L.A. It was pathetic from TSA to the fact that everybody brought their own food on it!

I had heard this was coming but wasn't aware it was actually happening. Do you know which airlines are doing it?

"Uh, say, Ma'am, I ordered the beef brisket for lunch."

"Sorry, sir, the toilet vetoed that. Now eat yer greens."

Awesome news!

We need more technology - especially when it comes to monitoring.

I hear Boeing is even working on some high-tech thing that won’t kill all the passengers!

With the airlines charging $9+ for a 7 ounce sandwich, I don’t blame anyone for bringing lunch.

On an unrelated note: does anyone else ever think of the Architect Skit and Cleese’s slaughterhouse designer while riding the moving sidewalks past murals at the airports?

We were told that electronic devices and cell phones interfered with the navigation. Now they are connecting everything?

What gives?

Flying is a nightmare for sure.

It was so great in the old days...you youngsters will have to take my word for it.

—Lots of leg room
—Comfortable seats
—Very few fat passengers
—Beautiful stewardesses
—Great food
—Roomy, clean airport waiting areas
—No CNN!
—No TSA

hard to believe, right? ;-)

Captain Rex Kramer arriving at the airport, Dr Thorndyke and Victoria trying to get through security disguised as old people, the old man in the one WKRP episode leaving his money to the Moonies provided they stay out of the airports ... there’s lots of stuff even adults these days have to take our word for it.
