As part of its commitment to US economic growth, Apple today confirmed that its newly redesigned Mac Pro will be manufactured in Austin, Texas. This latest generation Mac Pro, which was unveiled at Apples annual Worldwide Developer Conference in June, will begin production soon at the same Austin facility where Mac Pro has been made since 2013.
The new Mac Pro will include components designed, developed and manufactured by more than a dozen American companies for distribution to US customers. Manufacturers and suppliers across Arizona, Maine, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Vermont, including Intersil and ON Semiconductor, are providing advanced technology. The US manufacturing of Mac Pro is made possible following a federal product exclusion Apple is receiving for certain necessary components. The value of American-made components in the new Mac Pro is 2.5 times greater than in Apples previous generation Mac Pro.
Apples domestic investment supports 450,000 jobs at US suppliers. Apples domestic investment supports 450,000 jobs at US suppliers. The Mac Pro is Apples most powerful computer ever and were proud to be building it in Austin. We thank the administration for their support enabling this opportunity, said Tim Cook, Apples CEO, in a statement. We believe deeply in the power of American innovation. Thats why every Apple product is designed and engineered in the U.S., and made up of parts from 36 states, supporting 450,000 jobs with US suppliers, and were going to continue growing here.

Now this is what I call winning.
You are correct, sir. And then also consider if the thermal solution is not right, your chip “rated” for speed will perform terribly. You cannot put a crappy cheap MB and case and get good thermal performance - the chip will throttle down to say cool.
Saw a price tag on one but not the 28 core....
I have a 2013 Mac Pro (trashcan style) that I just upgraded tp 64 GB RAM. I do multitrack audio mixdown with it, sometimes video.
VERY happy with it and never a lick of problems.
Plus, I paid for the Apple software ONCE, unlike what I used to have to do with my PC.

They havent. . . even if their quantum computers were 100 trillion times faster than todays fastest supercomputers which would take an estimated 5.26 X 10195 years to try every possible key to a current 256 bit AES encrypted file, it would only shorten the time to an estimated 5.26 X 10181 years to do the same thing using the quantum computer. Thats the law of very large numbers at work. . . and cryptologists can always move to 512, 1024, 2048, or even 4096 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) using a Quantum computer to do the encryption. . .
Apples MacPro uses an eight core Intel 3225 Xeon W in its lowest model with a total of 24.5 MB cache, introduced in June 2019. Thats an $1149 processor. Big difference. Customization doesnt allow the choice to upgrade to this years Xeon. Oops! Add a 10 core Intel Xeon W to get close, $1005
Secondly, the PC is configured with only 16GB of ECC 2666GHz RAM and a slow 256GB SSD. The MacPro comes standard with 32GB of ECC 2666 GHz RAM and a very high speed 256GB SSD. $20.
The PCs mother boards system bus is only 24 lanes wide even though the Xeon processor is capable of 48. The Apple custom designed by Apple logic board bus is a full 48 lanes wide allowing direct access to RAM and graphics processors for all cores. Not a fixable failure of this workstation. Unknown.
The PCs default power supply is only 850 watts. The Apple MacPro comes with a 1450 watt p/s. Upgrading the PC to a 1600 watt p/s adds $355.
Video on the PC is using on-motherboard intel graphics (ROTFLMAO!) while the basic Apple MacPro has an AMD Radeon Pro 580X with 36 compute units, 2304 stream processors, 8GB of GDDR5 memory producing up to 5.6 teraflops at single precision math. It has two HDMI 2.0 ports on card four DisplayPort connections routed to system to support and two internal Thunderbolt 3 ports which has support for up to six 4K displays, two 5K displays, or two 32 6K Pro Display XDRs. Upgrading the PC with a somewhat equivalent graphics from their available choices adds $920.
The PC has no WIFI OR Bluetooth, the MacPro comes standard with both. Add $50.
The PC has no hot swapping drive trays, the MacPro has four. Add four to the PC: $65.
The PC has only three PCIe 16/8 combination slots, while the MacPro has eight and two dedicated half length 8 slots. No cure for this deficiency internally, youd have to buy an external card cage.
The PC doesnt come with a keyboard or mouse. The MacPro comes with a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. The suggested Logitech keyboard & mouse add only $30.
Total price resulting from the close build is $ 5,150.00 . . . and you still havent matched MacPro in features or software included.
Did you search out those reference monitors?
That price quote used an Intel Xeon W-3175X from 2018. Suggested retail price of that processor is $2999. The comparable one being used by Apple in the new 28 core MacPro is the 2nd Quarter 2019 Xeon W-3275M which retails for an additional upgrade price of just $1995 (a bargain) more than buying last years Xeon version, since the suggested retail list price of the newer one is $7,435 as of 09/23/2019. There must be quite an OEM discount these builders are willing to pass on to their customers.
Adding in all the various hardware to make it somewhat match the stock Apple MacPro with 28 cores, the price was a hair under $15,000.
It can. . .
You of all people should know better than to say never. Never happens daily in this age.
