Christina Anstead is letting fans join her on her postpartum journey.
The HGTV star, who gave birth to son Hudson last week, revealed on social media that she's been consuming her placenta in pill form.
“First time I’ve tried it — and I think these placenta encapsulation [pills] are working," the 36-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story.

Bison eat the placenta of their newborn calves because it stimulates the lactation process. I don’t know if that’s true of other animal species.
Human lactation process starts physiologically on its own.

Sounds like a scam to me. And one that might make you sick if everything involved in the processing isn’t squeaky clean & handled properly.

It’s all interesting. However, I stopped watching my children being born after the first. That was enough for me.

My wife and I have been watching their show Flip or Flop for years. Wait until I tell my life this little tidbit.

IIRC, it was due to an infection by a misfolded protein, known as a prion. It resulted from the practice (widespread at the time in the UK) of feeding meat-and-bone meal to young calves of dairy cows.
From there, the prions spread to humans, resulting in a kind of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. No cure, sometimes fatal. And it doesn't manifest until maybe 4-5 years after initial exposure.
Prions. From same-species flesh. Not part of a good, balanced diet.
If I recall correctly, she destroyed her marriage and happy family life for her kids by having an affair. Hard for me to be happy for her.
There is a human variant of prion disease called kuru. It results from eating human flesh. The misfolded prion proteins are concentrated in nervous tissue, especially the brain and spinal cord.
She is a deep pit, and only the foolish go there. She is a walking warning label...and there are many like her.
After (due to unfortunate events) having to watch too many of those cooking competition shows, the first thing I thought of was Chopped.
