I have heard of some cultures that do this....admittedly, not very appealing to those of us in the West. The claim is it is nutritious, etc. I dunno. Makes me wanna puke.
To: gattaca
So, to compensate for the anti-nature insanity known as unrestricted abortion, celebrities make a show of eating their placenta. The latest fad. I wonder if there are placenta restaurants. Placenta au gratin.

The claim is it is nutritious, etc. The placenta is essentially a body part of the infant that consists of a mass of blood, blood vessels, and connective tissues. It cannot possibly contain any nutritional value that is unavailable from food sources. And eating it is disgusting.

Down on the dairy farm, my Dad made every effort to prevent any cow from eating her “afterbirth”. He claimed it decreased their milk production if they are it. I can’t see any benefit to cattle in eating it. AFAIK, they are pretty strict vegetarians all their lives. Certainly not carnivorous.

The ‘headline’ alone is utterly disgusting, and I just needed to say so .. no further reading needed/wanted.
Not the squeamish sort, but call me old fashioned if you wanna.
