WOW, I was off by a many years:

Seat belts have been mandatory equipment since the 1968 model year per Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208.

Hearing the back seat isn't nearing as safe as they always thought because of the seat belts. I believe they are changing either now or next year.

I was just thinking of MI while driving home. Trump is going to NM - good, but I hope it isn't at the expense of MI & WI.

I go to the rally late, so I need to go back & watch the beginning.

As far as my parents were concerned, they were mandatory since the early 1960s. I remember my father insisting about 1961 that the new car he was buying had to have seat belts. The dealer didn’t really want to install them, but Dad declared he would not buy the car unless ALL the seats had seat belts.

It was a good rally - he made a lot of good points and the crowd loved him - the crowd inside and I am sure the crowd outside did too.

I guess your parents cared about you. Mine hated the seat belts & for many years did not wear them or make us wear them.

Notice when riding in the back how tight the belts are. They are going to have some give as the front. They are crushing people..especially the elderly.

It was good - I missed a bit and have to go back and watch it. For some strange reason, Laura Ingraham was under the impression that people watching the rally on Fox would be disappointed if she didn’t cut the rally to voice her opinions on Kavanaugh. Ordinarily, I am fine to listen, but when she thinks she’s more important than the president, well, I have news for her.

I was in the front seat when a seat belt broke my sternum in a crash. Very blessed that was my only injury. Only about a decade ago.

when she thinks she’s more important than the president, well, I have news for her.

I can never figure out why the pundits think what they have to say about the news is more important than the actual news that is happening at the moment.

And I certainly don't need her to tell me what she thinks Trump is saying, or what she thinks he should say.

The socialists planned a big counter protest to the rally. The venue said they could use a large area on the property. Online they planned to get people to fill parking lot with cars early so rally attenders would have no where to park. Then they canceled their protest and said it would be too dangerous because well you know what they claim about Trump supporters...they canceled for their safety. That is a laugh, they are the violent ones.

The protestors also said online that some of the bikers and oath keepers attending the rally were armed, no evidence of that at all and of course the Secret Service would not have allowed that. Ridiculous! I think they did not have the interest they thought they would have for a protest and they didn’t want to look bad.
