Global warming.
YAWN.
It was 3 strikes and you were out, MLB.
MLB bought Rawlings which makes the baseballs.
It aint rocket science ... or maybe it is. d;o)~
make the field bigger, the baseballs heavier and the bat 5 ounces lighter. problem solved LOL
Baseball has been ruined.
New juiced balls. Wrapped Tighter than previously and the stitching is tighter making it harder for pitchers to grip.
How’s the strikeout record doing?
Wonder if the growth of legalized sports betting has anything to do with this....
Every time a new stadium is built (a frequent occurance) the outfield walls move towards home plate about 10 feet.
Asterisk: new baseballs.
Earl Weaver baseball philosophy has taken over. No need for any Whitey Herzogs. Never heard of “launch angel” until everyone started to swing for the fences on every pitch.
The bigger problem, as I see it, is that teams don't even focus on getting runners on base at all.
Some guy on the Yankees was named their player of the week last week after hitting 5 home runs. He had only 7 RBIs for the week -- which meant: (1) they were almost all solo home runs, and/or (2) he never drove in any runs in any at-bats other than his home runs.
That's not baseball. That's batting practice.
It’ll be broken next year when relievers will have to face a minimum of three batters. Unless they unjuice the ball.
Baseball is just fine.
Anyone not wanting to watch anymore, fine. Don’t let the barn door hit ya...
Ya know, FReepers can be some of the biggest whiners on the planet at times.
Records come and records go. Who knew?
Babe Ruth is no longer the home run king. Boo hoo...
Come on folks, get a fricken grip.
More home runs are the end of the game? ROTF LMAO...
Chicks dig the long ball.
MLB can deny it all they want, but they juiced the baseball to keep fans engaged and prop-up attendance and ratings.
My Royals have a player who went from 12 homeruns last year to 42 this year. Tell me the ball isn’t juiced.
Ball is ridiculously juiced.
It’s homers or whiffs.
Boring.
The players and the baseballs are both juiced up.
Big deal. They’re playing more games per year than in Babe Ruth’s era. Count how many in the same amount of games he played.
During the very early 1920’s as Babe Ruth really got rolling with his home run production, the Yankees manager Miller Huggins commented: “The American fan likes the fellow who carries the wallop”. Much later it was: “Chicks dig the long ball”. Fans want to see runs. But is gotten to darn crazy. Back in the day, a 450 foot shot made headlines, it was a big deal. Now that distance is very common, an every day of the season happening it seems like.
