Kevin Hart's Car Will Be Disassembled By CHP and Laws Could Change
Our CHP sources tell us its protocol is often to disassemble cars involved in either fatal or major injuries to determine the cause of the crash. It's a 3-week process ... a week taking the car apart and 2-3 weeks evaluating the evidence and writing a report.

Sorry, we gotta crash test it to make sure it is safe.
CHP disassembles (!) your car?
someone in Sacramento is a brick short of a full load
(indeed, a number of them are)
How in God’s name can people actually stand to live in California?
It’s what 39 years old?....................
This sounds kind of fishy.
About 50.
Love this,
“the end result may be a recommendation by the CHP to the state legislature to require that car companies that customize and restore classic cars must install safety harnesses,”

That is not a bad idea. I have a friend that restores old cars and he puts seat belts in them even if they didn’t have them...............
Except for one thing, The mechanical knowledge of the CHP is far below acceptable competency at a minimum. More towards the inept side as a whole, even accident investigators. They are wrong far far more often than they are right and far far too self righteous to listen to REAL mechanics.. Been there.

My dad did that when he was a car/auto body mechanic back in the 50’s. He also installed tail lights/directionals on some of the older models before that era.
I don’t have a problem with it at all but knowing government, especially in California, its just the foot in the door to retrofitting air bags, anti-pollution controls and everything else on restored vehicles.
And of course none of this will solve the problem of irresponsible driving to begin with.
Hey we got purty weather plus we donate the most to FR! /CA FReepers
Yep, they are going to kill the whole restoration hobby. They have been trying to figure out how since the 80’s.
Bet there are some valuable undamaged parts on that Barracuda that will end up on ebay.
Ironically, the over regulation of new cars is already doing it for the future. 35 years from now who is going to be interested in restoring a KIA? Or most of the cars sold today?
A brilliant red Barchetta
