No problems with Swerve that I know of.
But I would avoid Xylitol, especially since it’s fatal to dogs.
Daily, I take Omega 3, Potassium/Magnesium and a multi-vitamin, for my supplements.
And sadly, the “Standard American Diet” has become the “Standard World Diet”, Europeans are starting to get fat, too.
As long as you stay on the diet, and do it correctly, you can reverse type 2, but the diet is control, not cure.
You are so on target there. I was watching an online ad for this wonderful cacao product called choc zero, supposedly keto-friendly - when I went to Amazon to look at the negative comments, it isn’t keto-friendly at all.
Read the labels, don’t get fooled by marketing. No manufactured foods. Leatn to lik new things.
My latest achievement is learning to like sardines at 76 years of age!
I am so proud of myself
I agree.
I cook my steaks and pour in mushrooms that soak up all the butter and fats, I think sometimes I like the mushrooms more than the steak itself.
True enough, but when you consider that the wrong diet was the cause in the first place then having it return when you go back to the wrong diet wouldn't be surprising. And would still be fair to say that the right diet is a cure.
Most of the experienced research docs say it isn’t necessary. They prefer you not “drink” your calories. MCT is processed, and I have lost 115 lbs in 20 months without using any of these “supplements.
My daughter-in-law tried it and got the worst upset stomach and disaster pants ever. She tends to think that if a little is good, more is fantastic.
I follow the K.I.S.S. principle, would rather spend my money on higher quality food.
Never thought about that. Interesting.
Btw, Passover (when I tend to do this) is in the Spring.
They were doing a lot of heavy outdoor work and they died young.
Which was ok. If you reproduce by the time you are 20 then your children are ready to take over by the time you hit 45. You even have a few years to enjoy your grandchildren.
Agriculture has existed for only 10,000 years. We evolved in a pre-agriculture environment, as hunter gatherers, primarily eating animals. That's the biology we evolved with.
Generally speaking humans have been less healthy since they invented agriculture, despite the fact that agriculture led to civilization and wealth.
I think I will try to hunt down the recipe threads that have been posted here over the years that focused on low carb.
I will also start looking at the recipes posted at Active Low-Carber forum again. It is a good place to get an idea on how several of the low carb plans work to see which might be best for you.
I quit soda again about 3-4 months ago. I switched to Koolaid made with sugar. I was drinking that and water but now I am basically only drinking water. Over a 1/2 gallon to a gallon every day.
Water is one of the biggest things to make sure you get enough of everyday.
I most likely will be doing a modified low carb and only eating once a day. I can’t eat a lot of fat, nuts or seeds because I had my gall bladder removed. I am one of the “lucky” ones that still suffer attacks. I am still in surgical menopause so that is also a factor.
I am going to be doing this on a very low budget so that should be interesting.
Atkins repeatedly asserts that the opening phase of the diet is NOT long term. I have no idea why people keep warning about it being bad in the long term, since the diet itself is designed to wean you back to a balanced diet, beginning in Week 3. The "Induction phase" only lasts for about 2 weeks, not 2 decades.
There are foods I dislike that I really, really wished I could like. Mushrooms are one of them. Olives are one of the others. I’ve tried to like them. I can’t. I know that I should.
Please add me to your ping list
I’m not a salter - even homemade soups. I leave that to the eventual eater to decide what they want.
I do love the salt-free herb blends available - ‘Sunny Paris’ from The Spice House in Milwaukee, WI is exceptional and I use it on/in just about everything. :)
Thanks. Note to self.
You’re in!
Get off carbs and sugar, count carbs, the ones you count should be root vegetables and seeds or nuts.
You will not have diabetes if you keep your carbs low. 80g or less. Now if you need to lose a lot of weight. Keep your carbs below that. Maybe 50g. You do not need ketosis but if you take long breaks between meals as you should, you will end up in ketosis most of the time.
You dont need to AIM for high fat. Just eating good animal proteins from clean animals will get you there, and use good grass fed butter or other healthy oil when you cook your eggs and veggies etc.
