How many times did your parents make you go outside and play? You should call and thank them...
A new study suggests vitamin D might also might lead to aggressive behavior in adolescents.
University of Michigan researchers say they have found a link between vitamin D deficiency in young kids and aggression in adolescents. According to their study of schoolchildren in Bogotá, Columbia, almost young kids with low levels of the vitamin were nearly twice as likely to exhibit aggression as they got older.
"Children who have vitamin D deficiency during their elementary school years appear to have higher scores on tests that measure behavior problems when they reach adolescence," said Eduardo Villamor, professor of epidemiology at the U-M School of Public Health and senior author of the study appearing in the Journal of Nutrition.

I've been taking at least 10k of vitamin D daily since posting this article.
Do you take any K2 with that?
How has your health been since you started taking and what age were you?
Yes. 100 mcg daily.
That’s true. Also, nobody drinks milk or eats cheese anymore, because their parents have decided that animal products are evil...so not only do they sit inside all day and avoid the sun, but they also eat nothing that human beings really need.
I also think sunscreen has something to do with this. Parents are insanely concerned about melanoma (which is actually less likely if you have regular sun exposure and maintain a light tan) or even the superficial skin cancers that develop when a person is in their 60s or 70s, so I have seen people slathering 50+ sunscreen on their small dead-white kids. Blocking sun also blocks Vit D development.
L8R.
I was 62 when I started taking vitamin D, I'm presently 75.
Before I took Vitamin D, I would make at least one trip per year to the doctor for bronchitis. I've had one bronchitis incidence in 13 years since taking vitamin D.
For the last 10 years, I’ve taken 5,000 units of D3 each day + my whole foods multi-vitamin.
Oatmeal, banana, strawberries, skim milk, chicken breast and 60-70oz water each day. Fitness club 5 days a week.
...and my funeral is next week.
Foods that provide vitamin D include:
1. Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, and salmon.
2.Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals.
3. Beef liver.
4. Cheese.
5. Egg yolks.
I am onboard will all of those, except for #2.
10k
How many MG, or mcg is that?
Why do you recommend that vitamin? What's good about it? I thought it helps with blood clotting? I am asking because I never hear much about it.
10,000 International Units.
Vitamin D deficiency ?
This probably explains the pasty-faced Google and Facebook masters-of-the-universe, who ignore the First Amendment rights of the citizenry.
If you think you are deficient in any vitamin, go buy it.
Don’t take 1 a day, that just keeps you deficient.
Take 10 times the MDR recommended and see if you notice.
That is not too much- it just helps you catch up.
You’d have to take a whole bottle and even then it might not do more than give you the runs.
Blam posted a link to a nice overview above (I can send a few more later if you have further interest - a K2 search even here on FR will yield some good results and feedback). In short, it is does play a role in clotting but not the same as K1 which is used as a clotting agent. It also plays important roles in the body, including desired calcium distribution.
Thanks for the info. I’d be interested in which supplements (brands, etc) you take if you feel like sharing.
