A student's parents are suing Texas school administrators for coloring in a hair design on the black student's head.
The student, 13, went to Berry Miller Junior High in April with the letter "M" shaved on his head. Three administrators told the student his haircut violated the school's dress code policy. They told him he could call his mother, receive a disciplinary action or color the design in with a marker.
A federal civil rights lawsuit filed Sunday said administrators laughed as they used a permanent marker to color the boy's scalp. The lawsuit noted that the boy was "immensely humiliated and shamed," adding that it took several days of scrubbing to take off the permanent marker.

I guess they couldn't have suspended him. He would have missed an all important lbgtq...wxyz class
Could be worse, they could have made him wear a MAGA hat to cover it up.
Suing? Good grief.
What adult thought this was a good idea?
so having an M shaved into your head is worn proudly, while an M inked onto your head is a source of shame? Nope, doesn’t work for me.
The kid broke the rule and was given three choices to fix it. He picked one. Don’t see a problem. If the parent(s) are unhappy, then teach your child to 1) not break rules 2) learn to make better choices.
Other than that, this should be a good life lesson for the kid. Don’t break rules if you are not prepared to face the consequences, and learn to make better choices in life (0 for 2 on this outing).
I’ll bet this is led by the mother. I think I spotted her in the video, with 20 inch long hair weaved braids.
She’s thinking like a teenager, someone obsessed with hairstyles. Meanwhile another family gets this involved in the grades their child is earning in Math, English and History. Guess which child is more likely to have the higher earning power after graduation?
> they used a permanent marker to color the boy’s scalp <
Thats a stupid move on the administrators part. And if I were on the jury when the parents sue the school, Id be inclined to give the parents a grand or so.
Except to restrain someone violent, you simply dont touch a kid. If you dont like his hair style or what hes wearing, you send him home with a letter of explanation. You dont touch him.
I hope you don’t make important decisions at work.
Could be worse, they could have made him wear a MAGA hat to cover it up.

I was thinking they could just shave an ... AGA after the M.
Win/Win

The one dripping in privilege
Stupid rules result in stupid consequences.
Now careers are on the line and the parents could collect $$$.
Over an M?
Yeah. Photoshopping the yearbook to fill in hair stupidity is one thing.
Taking a magic marker and physically coloring the boy’s scalp is another.
I’m with the parent. Based on the 1% of factual information I actually know about matter.
Anyone know what the M stands for?
These days any remedy that involves touching the student is just stupid and will cause problems.
Good luck to the parents in their lawsuit.
No school employee should be marking up a student with a permanent marker.
Sounds to me like the choice was his.
The best part of the information you need is right there in the article ... "They told him he could call his mother, receive a disciplinary action or color the design in with a marker."
So ... he made the choice.
