Tiny brain chips are set to be implanted in overweight patients in a bid could curb the rise of obesity.

A team of scientists from Stanford University are hoping to trial the brain stimulating chip on six humans for the first time this year after successful trials in mice.

The chips work by delivering a minor jolt to the part of the brain that sends signals when someone is about to gorge on food, and scientists hope could it could help people snap out of harmful eating habits.

Last year, researchers proved that obese mice who had the implants ate 60pc less fatty foods. They hope the success can now be replicated in humans.

Because their wee brains were being grilled?! Sure, let's try that on humans!

The chips work by delivering a minor jolt to the part of the brain that sends signals when someone is about to gorge on food.

What’s that mean, more than three shovelfuls of a particular food item?

Perhaps the chip will determine when you’ve decided to take that fourth mouthful but haven’t done so yet?

This is “Red Flag” sensor technology.

What a fantastic idea! Implant chips and program them to shock the person who is about to do something on the government’s disapproved list! Next idea will be to develop chips that cause pleasure when you do something on the government’s approved list.
