The attorneys will get way more than $125.00. THAT you can count on.

Equifax breach settlement: You're not getting that $125. Here's why.

Class action lawsuit, each member of the class gets pennies, the lawyers get half the total sum.

That's why you see lawyers advertising on TV for users of RoundUp, etc.

Equifax says I was breached. The only reason I might file a claim is to get the free credit monitoring.

The article says that service is worth hundreds of dollars per year.

I don’t know about that. I do know I’ve lived 61 years without credit monitoring so is this really a big deal?

We have until next year to file - so I’ll wait and see....

I didn’t see the $125 as worth the time and effort it would take to “maybe” see some of it. Now, if it was $1200, I’d have pursued it.

That’s why the trial lawyers and Democrats are now trying to pass laws to blame the drug companies for the “opiod crisis.” Let’s not deal with the fact those drugs are actually coming in from Red China through Mexico.

One of these days you are going to need pain killers and will find out they won’t give them to you any more even if you legitimately need them. It’s already happening.

IIRC, no one will receive a check until after the January 22, 2020, deadline (assuming we’re receiving anything at all, that is).

You can freeze your credit. That way nobody can open accounts in your name. Just unfreeze it when you need a loan, then freeze it back.

Those greasy scumbuckets make me physically ill.

Because the only ones getting anything are the lawyers.

And if I’m not mistaken, by taking the money you will be giving up any claim to any future damages. So yeah, I’m passing too.

That is what they tried in the beginning, hence the class action. The class action will provide you with credit repair if your personal information is misused in addition to providing you with credit monitoring.

If you go to the website to make the claim, the time and effort involved is maybe two minutes, tops.

The earliest anyone can expect their money as a practical matter is 2020.

Equifax wasn't handling the processing.
This Is The Official Settlement Website For The Equifax Data Breach Settlement.

It Is Operated By The Settlement Administrator, Not By Equifax.
