Since the interview went viral, he has become the target of fierce attacks from media figures and other TV personalities. Some Twitter users are calling for Lopez to be fired as a host of Extra.

While leftists have yet to succeed in canceling “Access Hollywood” host Lopez, but they did succeed in forcing him to apologize for criticizing parents that “transition” their children’s gender at ages as young as three. In a statement to PEOPLE, the former “Saved by the Bell” star denounced his previous comments as “ignorant and insensitive” while vowing to be more “thoughtful” in the future.
“The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” Lopez said. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. “Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”
