Two city officials say an Alabama animal shelter's outdated equipment allowed two pit bulls to fatally maul 29 cats.
WTVY-TV reports the dead cats were found Thursday by workers at the Dothan Animal Shelter.
Shelter Director Bill Banks says the dogs forced their way out of a pen. They then pushed hard on a galvanized bar attached to a chain link fence, knocking it out of a clamp which allowed them access to the cats.

Odd shelter incident.
I learned growing up you don’t leave any breed of dog alone around animals it’s not familiar with, be it ducklings, new kittens etc. .
They don’t eat them out of anger.
Then they brag about their abortions, at least as long as they’re kept around their fellow nuts.

Put the dogs one at a time in a large cage with an angry/hungry leopard or jaguar and watch what happens. Or better yet, put the dogs one at a time into an enclosure with several leopards.

Our "outside cat" in rural TN used to play with mice outside for what seemed hours before killing them.
He would let them scurry across the lawn until almost reaching shelter and then pull them back to the center of the yard for more torment.

The sad thing is that the animal shelter was probably trying to find a home for those pit bulls. Any pit bull that arrives at an animal shelter and shows any sign of aggression towards people, other dogs, or other animals should be immediately put down. The most common reason that pit bulls wind up in animal shelters is that the dog had become unmanageable. Moving along a vicious dog is borderline criminal negligence.

The answer is yes. They also torture. Such as a mouse with it’s back bitten so only it’s front legs work and is played with until it dies. Or a squirrel half dead carried to the kitten nest so the little ones can learn to kill.
The wife likes cats, so do I, but one is enough. We had four outside cats, I caught one torturing a squirrel while the wife was shopping. I shot the damn thing. Wife thinks it ran off. She’s agreed to give the other two away which will leave us one for mousing.
I used to think if we fed the outside cats they would stop killing. That did not work. If they have full stomachs, then they kill for sport and that’s when the torture really ramps up.
Squirrels and birds are fun to watch, but not when a cat is on a limb ready to snatch it.
A dog that has no reason to be.
So sad.
So disgusting that it happens over and over and over with this breed and they still exist.
Our cats seldom kill birds. They often kill mice, rats, snakes and are ardent bug hunters and sometimes frogs that drift into their sights. Hardly ever kill birds and we have lots of bird feeders.
Poor kitties.
Savage pit bulls need to all die.
