On Wednesday, Netflix announced its subscriber base in the United States declined for the first time since 2011.
...
Netflix blames the decline on its most recent price increase...
Perhaps theres another factor that Netflix is missing, or evening ignoring ....
For more than a year now, Netflix has made some controversial moves that undeniably alienated a large portion of its U.S. subscribers: conservatives.
Back in March of 2018, Netflix named former Susan Rice, the former National Security Adviser and Ambassador to the United Nations under Barack Obama, to their Board of Directors.
...
Rices placement on the Board of Directors was also criticized because her national security background seemed irrelevant to being on the BOD of an entertainment company.

I know I cancelled them for that reason.
Hulu too.
Hulu keeps asking me to come back, they must be hurting.
It would have been in the running for me when I was looking for an anime streaming service, but since it’s pozzed there’s no way I’ll voluntarily do business with them. Go sell your Communism somewhere else, Susan.
Gay people are out there in society. They are part of the storyline in some dramas. I get it.
But having LGTBQ(WXYZ) propaganda crammed down my piehole 24/7, crammed into plots and stories where it has absolutely no place?
No thank you.
I don’t care who they hire (Obama, Rice). It’s the left wing programming they are churning out that’s turned me off. That and the fact there are fewer and fewer movies and more and more really bad shows.
That’s right up there in the stupidity list with a major retailer refusing to accept credit cards. Even Costco finally had to bow to modern life.
Netflix has always had a fairly high customer turnover. People subscribe, don’t watch it and then cancel their subscriptions. As long as more new customers signed up than old customers cancelled each year their net number of subscribers continued to rise.
I am sure that some percentage of their cancelling customers are alienated conservatives. I am willing to bet, however, that where conservatives are really hitting them is that they are no longer signing up in the first place.
Without a doubt it cost subscribers, but it’s stock price really dropped because their content pool is drying up. Everyone is going to be streaming their own.
I guess greed is going to bring us Al-a-carte programming after all. Everyone major will be streaming their own. I guess it’s just another market cycle.
I would suspect that there will be some new players on the market for $1.99 to $3.99 streaming packages.
They won’t have much to show next year.
“Then there was the announcement in May 2018 that Netflix would be partnering with Barack and Michelle Obama to produce content. “President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have entered into a multi-year agreement to potentially produce films and series for Netflix...”
“Potentially”? And if the Obama’s never actually deliver a movie or series, what then? Can we call the partnering agreement what it really is... a flat-out bribe? A kick-back for “services rendered”? Cause you know that Barak is inherently lazy and misses his book deadlines.
I got a Roku device when I cut the cord and there's plenty of free programing that comes with that to make up for anything I lose by cancelling Netflix. I'm saving over $150 a month by dropping Comcast and replacing it with YouTube TV.
Yeah, hiring the Obama’s was our ticket out.
Cancelled Netflix 8 or 9 months ago. Also cancelled ATT U-verse cable. Have never missed either one even once. So much more time available for better uses. Propaganda, lies, agitprop, brainwashing. It’s not just a waste of time. It’s destructive. I will never go back.
Hubby watches and he pays the bills or it would be gone. His daughter got us that fancy box with Sling, Hulu, Roku, Prime and didn’t show us how to use the blooming thing. She chose the channels, and I’m not a nerd.
Same reason’s we watch old movies like African Queen and John Wayne type stuff. NO L, G, B, Q crap.
It will get worse this season with the obama’s on board. I’d rather have a book I chose.
We are verry MAGnAnimous in how we spend our $$$, morons.
“And yet company after company does that. Why?”
Brownshirts
They get asked straight up, if the answer is not what the brownshirts want to hear (a non answer is just as bad), then they fear the sociatiel repercussions and cave.
The educational system helped establish those fears.
The subscription rate increase about 3 months ago probably also added to the decline.
As did the lack of new offerings — movies and series.
I'd say that given the churn all subscription services experience that making a move that keeps conservatives from ever trying their service is functionally identical to losing subscribers.
Either way, it's obvious bias that's costing them subscribers.
JMHo
take a look at the skystream 3 plus box (elitemods.com) they come loaded with apps. Watch anything from Netflix for free, actually forget netflix you can watch anything you want when you want, all free.
We have been cable free, service free for over two years no monthly fees. It’s all out there free for streaming.
I do not work for elitemods or have any connection to them other that I bought the box from them, best decision ever!
Thanks for the heads up, we will have his daughter take it out.
We mainly watch a movie at night, but want clean cartoons for our grand daughter who is 21 months and just getting into watching some.
Some of their original series are good, some are not.
I don’t like having to wait a year or longer after a 6 to 13 episode series for the next season. By the start of the next season, I have completely forgotten what the previous season was about.
