Hello again, old friend. What you're looking at is the Harley-Davidson LiveWire, a very different bike from a very traditional motorcycle company. It's Harley's first EV, and the first EV from what I would consider a major, mainstream motorcycle company. At $29,799, it's also one of the most expensive. I was lucky to ride a prototype of this bike way back in 2014, and while I'm not entirely sure what's taken so long to bring it to production, I'm very glad to say that this thing was worth the wait.

This bike actually seems nice.
It is one of three which Harley is introducing, this one is apparently the best. More news soon, apparently.
It has some nice features, such as the fast charging, which actually seems pretty competitive.
The others will also be interesting. Those may be a bit cheaper also.
This is a completely new market, so things are evolving right now.
you still miss the point. The start is in America where the bikes can be buil0, sold and tested in service under the close view of American engineer designers.
Once workable designs are confirmed, production can be developed at much cheaper prices with factories in India where there are HD factories already
Really? If that is the case then why are shit box little electric cars like the Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius still selling for close to $30,000?
Hell these things wouldn’t sell at all if it weren’t for the $7500 tax payer funded subsidies allowed.
I got tired of not being able to start my gas-powered chain saw when I needed it, so broke down and bought an Echo 58V electric chain saw. Man, do I love that thing. No starting, no filling with gas, no noise while not using, no exhaust fumes, no dangerous spinning chain while not using. It will go through anything I throw at it and the battery lasts forever before it needs to be recharged. I will never go back to gas.

Miles per hour of charge time
A significant part of motorcycle safety is the noise it makes...which on the road or highway gives it a unique identity to be seen or HEARD for it’s safety.
Bottom line; noiseless (or sewing machine sounding) scooters may be cool for millennials but I can’t imagine the masses of real scooter jocks making the switch.
Electric Harleys should be called “Fogs”.
Talked to a 'motor officer' years ago, who said that when he got a call at night, he not only did NOT turn on his "lights & siren," but he turned his headlight(s) OFF. His reason? Something along the lines of: "Cars are completely unpredictable, and if they see you coming, it gets worse, not better."
Of course, maybe he was just an adrenaline addict (like a lot of ER docs, etc.)...

Yeah, because we know harley riders are into safety so they don’t wear helmets that might obstruct their view, and when they go zipping through traffic they need noise to announce their stunt riding.

Also, if there are 4 charging bays in the station, you know that 4 vehicles will turn right into the station while you are waiting to turn left. 40 minutes becomes 80 minutes.
Or, ratio of drive time to charging time (in this case, nearly one to one).
We used baseball cards clipped on using springy clothes pins for that engine sound. Not good cards. We knew better.
Back in the seventies we dreamed of Harleys but rode Honda road bikes. Much cheaper. And we road them loud and we rode them without helmets (depending on the state) and we did way stupid things on them. I often wonder how I survived. Of course like most 20 something males… I was immortal.
I bought a $39.00 elec chainsaw at Harbor Fright and power it with $88.00 gas generator from HF.
I put the generator in the back of my Kawasaki Mule and use the elec chainsaw to cut small trees that fall in my woods trails.
For way less than $150 it works pretty good.
The 20v/60v Dewalt brushless tools are nothing short of amazing. Power, reliability, and endurance across the spectrum from the hand tools through the chainsaw, weed trimmer, hedge trimmer, work lights, etc etc. They even have a charging stating accessory for 20 bucks that you can power cellphones, computers, and other USB appliances from.
5 stars all day long. I know the other brands are supposed to be just as good.
For that matter, my first set was the cheaper Black and Decker tool set with 20v and while their batteries do not last as long as the Dewalt stuff, they are more than sufficient for a homeowner and work very well.
