AIR SHOWS - HOW TO LOCATE LIST OF AIR SHOWS
07/15/19 | Self

There are a lot of great Air Shows in the desert outside of Los Angeles. I have seen the B-2 Stealth Bombers a few times and even Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier.

I have both young people and adults that want to go out and see these military shows.

Anyone have an idea if there is a specific way to be notified of American Military aircraft shows and other entertaining air maneuvers.

The Air Force Thunderbirds used to routinely put on a great show at Randolph AFB near San Antonio. I lived 5 miles from base.

My home was right under the turn around zone. Those Fighting Falcons made the greatest noise ever as they turned around and screamed full throttle back to the airshow!

Missouri sucks sometimes. We’d have to go to KY, TX, OH or Chicago

Last June I was staying at a hotel facing the Danube River near Chain Bridge, across from the Parliment Building in Budapest. Unknown to me, the Red Bull International Air Racing and Stunt Plane Competition was right in front of me on the river.

For three days the planes went under the Chain Bridge, did a series of cones on barges slalom style sideways, alternating wings up and then did rolls to repeat the course in reverse.

It was one of the greatest unplanned travel events I have experienced.

If you haven’t seen it, the B29 FIFI or Doc are something to behold.

Oshkosh 2019 is July 22-28.

The EAA airshow in Oshkosh is like the once-in-a-lifetime Haj pilgrimage to Mecca for airplane lovers.

When I was 15, we drove from Northern California to Oshkosh, WI in 1978 with our 19’ Prowler trailer. We were in the campground across the street for the entire week.

I went to Oshkosh a few years ago for the first time.

No telling how much I hiked around that few days. I never came close to seeing it all. Good trip.

Drive to Fallon NV. Drive a half hour to the east. Set up a lawn chair. Wait. Weekdays are best.
