President Trump will announce that he is backing away from trying to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census during a Thursday afternoon news conference, according to multiple reports.

The president instead will take executive action to direct the Commerce Department to collect the information by other means. ABC News was the first to report the development.

honestly, we are better off being illegal at this point.

eff’n sickening..

I was hoping our republic would not fall in to a second civil war in my kids life time...

now I think it will fall in to one in my lifetime.

Thank god my kid can pop the wings off a fly at 100 feet. I’ll be at his side doing what my half blind butt can do to protect him

“Trump backs off”

That phrase should be programmed into word processors to save on keystrokes

I would have thought that he’d fight harder on this.

“Trump talks a good game on these issues, but accomplishes little.”

Have you never heard of 4d chess? (me neither)

“We were told the FISA docs would be declassified and released (”we will be absolutely releasing”). I think that was over four months ago.”

I’m still waiting for him to release all the JFK assassination stuff. He promised - then pulled back

There’s lots of blame to spread around.

The bottom line, however, is that the Trump presidency is turning out to be meaningless - at least with regards to its core issue, the reason Trump got elected.

“What means other than the census does the Commerce Department have?”

Doesn’t matter. Apportionment of Reps is thru the census and will be far from accurate. The likes of California will likely gain even more Reps.

Trump speaking right now.

New option. Ex Order: All depts. to report to Dept of Coomerce all data on citizens of all in U.S as of Ex Order today.

Bill Barr at podium now & concurs with order. Says decision to add citizen question on Census would be won in SOCTUS, but take long time.

Therefore Ex Order now. All citizen data must be sent to DOC NOW.

ONCE AGAIN the deck is stacked, The standards are not even, AND TRUMP CAVES. I am sick of this.Trump’s advisors and lawyers blow, and his cabinet is infected with weakc—ts and saboteurs. If Odunga removed it with an EO, just like DACA, Trump should put it back, like he should have ended DACA with an EO. This is bullshit.

There is no one reason why Trump got elected. The wall, trade and PC were major distinguishing factors to be sure. Trump is pushing hard for what he promised. The people owe it to him to give him a team of MAGA Republicans not a bunch of old tread Repukes. Most of Congress is filled with Trump hating anti-nationalist globalist pukes. That’s not on Trump.

“Why blame Roberts?”

He was a Bush-2 pick. In addition to that, it’s pretty clear from the number of rulings he has screwed-up for the Conservatives that somebody has something on him he doesn’t want let out. Poor choice, shoddy background checking. Hard to say.

Did Obama remove the question ?

The regular, short-form census has not asked about citizenship since 1950. So it was Eisenhower who removed it.

What’s the point of being a citizen anymore?

I wonder how many Romans asked that very same question in the last days before the final collapse of the empire.

“Citizens and those who legally went through the naturalization process are the losers in this. A sad day for the country.”

Speaking to that, I’m very surprised that those who became Americans legally, jumped through he hoops, spent the time, money, etc., are not up in arms at the gross unfairness of all this.

A slap in the face to them for sure. And us.
