Christian women can’t find good men to marry: ‘There just aren’t any’
Life Site News ^ | May 2, 2019 | Anna Hitchings

May 2, 2019 (The Catholic Weekly) – We are living in a unique time in history. Never has politics been so polarised, never has mainstream society come so near to amorality (although Nero’s Rome came close), and never has it been so difficult for a woman to find a good man.

The latter is, I’ll admit, a bold claim but allow me to elaborate.

We constantly bemoan the state of society, the youth, universities, the media, et al, which seem to be collectively falling into ever deeper rabbit holes of noxious regressive ideas, behaviours and policies.

Religious affiliation and church attendance, especially among youth and men in particular, has never been lower. Pornography addiction is a scourge of epidemic proportions among men and even boys as young as 11. Put simply, the world is in a mess.

You’ve heard it all before.

Yet one important side-effect of all this that gets little attention is how tough this new environment has become for women, especially Christian women, to find good husbands. The situation is so dire there is now an emerging trend of women abandoning their faith and religious beliefs for the sake of romantic relationships.

Perhaps this is not considered a particularly serious issue when compared with Brexit, abortion on demand or the erosion of free speech, but I would contend it is every bit as important, if not more so. The future of our society depends on good, solid marriages, families and citizens. We need families to produce educated and informed young men and women who will continue fighting the good fight on all the issues confronting our society.

Yet for someone like me – a 32-year-old single Catholic – the situation looks bleak indeed.

Why would I marry a woman, potentially lose half my stuff when I get the prize for free?

Why lose half your farm to a cow when you can get milk for free, you mean?

These days, I just ignore certain comments here. They’re not worth the time.

Congrats to your family. Through the years, I met many homeschool families who were black or mixed, either through marriage or adoption. The moms all were lovely. More importantly, all were devout Christians determined to raise their children right. So, whenever some people here make negative comments, I just figure they haven’t met enough other people to know better.

That picture is pure projection. Women are the ones addicted to their phones and the validation it brings them.

If a man acts busy, that means he's...POPULAR. And therefore all the more worth chasing.

Why do men do *anything*?

Without women, there are no progeny, no legacy, no future - no world or civilization beyond one’s own fleeting, puny life.

Men may give their enterprises eloquent, flowery names. But at bottom, they do it all for women, for what women offer them, and for the future that women and children represent.

If we hadn’t eaten that fruit, and compelled you to go out and conquer, you’d still be living in a tree, ignorant.

Ah, yes, date musicians and other “bad boys” all through their 20s, then they decide in their 30s that they want a nice, stable man for a husband.

What, you never heard of "Missionary (position) Dating?"

It goes along with Sloppy Seconds Agape.

Guy my son looks like a greek god and he says that the kinds of women who chase him have no interest in any sort of permenence.

Yeah, the women are looking for Mr. Right, but in the meantime they'll do all kinds of shenanigans with "Mr. Right NOW!"

i don’t know I’d say the woman who married my son a few years ago got a good deal. Not bad looking, athletic, in seminary now an ordained pastor in a great church. He is a devoted husband and now father. A breadwinner who encourages her to be a stay at home mom. And above all devoted to Jesus Christ with his whole heart and life. They are out there. I found a good one 35 years ago who raised a wonderful son.

Well, that is fine but all you have to do is look at all of the threads on f.r. that is proof over all it does not work that way.

I was a youth group sponsor for years. Thankfully, the teens in my groups had a good influence from parents and didn’t seem to bring less desirable dates to activities.

However, a great number of Christian girls I knew from college were just like you described. I always lamented this, as these were women I would have been happy to seriously date, until I realized their very recent past (and near term future) was to be with exactly the kind of guys you mentioned for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It pained me so much as I found out, yet again, that someone I thought was a great potential catch was throwing out her future with a guy like me because she didn’t want to be considered “cute” or “innocent” any longer, or that she was “tired” of waiting.

It was really a sad time in my life. I’d grown up thinking women were better centered than guys, with even hormones helping women over men to stay purer.

What I found is that women are easily as bad off as men—but they look all cute and innocent as they go down the tubes.

I don’t quite understand. How does you having a 20 year daughter make an only-slightly hyperbolic comment “appalling”? I’m in my twenties. A 20 year old girl, or guy, having had north of 30 sexual partners does not shock me. More people are closer to your perception of spring break wildness than you could possibly imagine.

A 20 year old girl who has had 3 or 4 partners would be considered a shrinking violet on most college campuses across America. Do you wonder where antibiotic-resistant creeping-crud oozing-leaking-super-gonorrhea herpes is coming from? It’s not because 20 year olds are shy and focused on educational goals. It’s because millions of young people have sex with a new person every couple of weeks. Obviously there exceptions. Not everyone thinks having sex with a stranger in the bathroom at Taco Bell is a fun time. However, millions do.

I did not show bad comprehension of her words. Also, I had no reason to search her future article for apologies or clarifications.

Why didn’t she simply say “socially adept?”

I maintain she’s a jerk for requiring that.

Heh?

Never mind I think your premises are all wrong, but it is BEST to be a virgin. ZERO BAGGAGE.

Watch Judge Judy sometime and tell me how much of these stupid cases would’ve been avoided if they all kept it to themselves. Aside from those, how many involve a single unwed mother with kids waiting in the wings, and how messed up that whole scene is for these poor souls who did not ask for this.

Keep it to yourself. It’s been found that one is “locked in” to the first person you screw, thus, you will always have that baggage. Never mind skyrocketing illegitimate children DESPITE all the “birth control” which TRULY started all this, and the degeneration of morals with it. Those children are messed up with all the baggage that goes with this immorality, all the way up to downright danger.

Society has spun out of control just by thinking we can screw all we want, won’t get pregnant, but if we do, we can abort.

Stay virgins, please. Life would be cleaner and less complex if so.

I agree. My wife and I kept our virginity for each other.
