CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - An explosion leveled a home turning it into a pile of rubble on James Jack Lane in the Ballantyne area on Tuesday. It is unclear if anybody was home or what caused the explosion.
Medic is reporting a mass casualty bus is on the way, but didn't specify why. The location is less than a five-minute drive from Ballantyne Corporate Park.
Complicating the situation is that the firefighters are on the scene, outdoors and fully dressed in work gear, with a heat index that is expected to maybe surpass 100 degrees.

At least two people are being treated for non-life threatening injuries but their condition is unknown at this time.

Just heard about this on Fox News. Fox News said the explosion was heard 5 miles away. I'm about 9 miles from there.
Ballanyne is an upscale area of south Charlotte. From a quick map recon, the explosion was about 1/2 mile from the Ballantyne Country Club.
Investigation is ongoing. Haven't heard any speculation on the cause.
