Notably, this is not common practice at the Chicago Department of Aviation. Employees are generally safe from extreme disciplinary action, such as termination.
I wonder how long this will last?
Who he(?) was connected to?
A friend worked there for a contractor, then finally a 'city' job, many, many stories!
His first day on the job, he completed too much work too soon; they told him to go watch the airplanes land!

Well, there’s a huge task, to re-key everything at O’Hare, along with issuing new keys for all the employees who have keys to their areas of responsibility at the airport.

To me, it smells like a pre-attack probe... But then, probably, I am being unreasonably paranoid...

From the website: “The employee in question lost a set of master keys for OHare International Airports secure access facilities. In light of this, the employee was relieved from their duties.” This writing is worthy of a website? We have every tool at our fingertips, yet this guy (clown) posts this? I cannot resist, sorry, -—no not....

‘Jay’, I realize that you’re a foreigner, but if you purport to comment on matters internal to the UnitedStates, learn the effn language.

You would think a major airport would be using modern electronic locks that allows tracking on who is coming and going through every door, but nope.

They should have switched over to card access a long time ago. Costly to install but well worth the effort to not only eliminate situations such as this but to keep a record of exactly who is accessing what.

I remember as a fairly young kid walking anywhere in O’Hare, without a ticket or boarding pass. You could even go there at night and walk pretty much anywhere - even sleep there if you wanted. Wow, have times changed.

i am skeptical the keys were simply lost.

The gender neutral loophole. It was probably a female.

Makes sense for union-run $hitcago! We can’t have people actually working, because it makes it harder to bring on more slackers to pad the payroll.

What worries me is that one person could cause such chaos. There should be enough granularity of access privileges that if any one person becomes a problem, for whatever reason, things can be resolved quickly and securely.
It doesn’t appear to be the case here.

When I was a flight attendant, back in the early 2000's I was at the Chicago airport and some weirdo exposed himself to me and one of my friends when he approached us trying to eat our lunch. He was caught and our flight was delayed so we could ID him. The airport police told us they were going to put him in a lineup for us to identify him and we laughed hysterically as we told them we couldn't ID him by his face. 😁 So, the police let us Southern girls go, telling us we would be getting a court date in the mail and when we got back to our now delayed flight, the passengers gave us a cheering, standing ovation. My point - this weirdo had a huge round keyring attached to a belt loop, filled with probably 100 keys and we were told that he had keys he wasn't supposed to have of the airport. Just sayin'.

I guess they finally got rid of the last white guy. I wonder which thug stole his keys.

First off, if an airport is concerned enough about security that they must have locked doors and gates, there should never be a master key. Obviously, they aren’t concerned since there are master keys floating around.
