An employee at Chicagos OHare International Airport was fired after a security mishap. The employee in question lost a set of master keys for OHare International Airports secure access facilities. In light of this, the employee was relieved from their duties.
According to their investigation, the missing keys unlock perimeter fences and key entry points. Overall, the keys could open around 100 perimeter gates, 150 other gates, and an unknown amount of doors, elevators, and washrooms. In terms of airport security, these are some of the first-line defenses against unwanted intrusions and potential malicious acts.
Due to the severity of the incident, the employee in question was terminated. Notably, this is not common practice at the Chicago Department of Aviation. Employees are generally safe from extreme disciplinary action, such as termination.

I wonder how long this will last?
Who he(?) was connected to?
A friend worked there for a contractor, then finally a 'city' job, many, many stories!
His first day on the job, he completed too much work too soon; they told him to go watch the airplanes land!
Well, there’s a huge task, to re-key everything at O’Hare, along with issuing new keys for all the employees who have keys to their areas of responsibility at the airport.

OT, but “the employee was relieved from their duties.”
Gaahhhh!!!! Don’t nobody lern Inglish no more?
Was his name “Mohamid”?
To me, it smells like a pre-attack probe... But then, probably, I am being unreasonably paranoid...

In this politically correct age of transgenderism we live in, it is common among the gender identity crowd, to describe people as “they” and “them” instead of “him” or “her”.
My guess is that the writer of the article is a twenty-something, who wants to prove that he or she is with it on the gender identity stuff.
Was his name Mohamid?
Willie Washington would be more likely.
Or possibly Sean O’Callahan?

Must have been a white male.

From the website: “The employee in question lost a set of master keys for OHare International Airports secure access facilities. In light of this, the employee was relieved from their duties.” This writing is worthy of a website? We have every tool at our fingertips, yet this guy (clown) posts this? I cannot resist, sorry, -—no not....
Exactly, a very expensive screw up. Sorry for the employee, but this is a firing offensive.
I’ve made my share, to be more than sure.
“...the employee was relieved from their duties.”
‘Jay’, I realize that you’re a foreigner, but if you purport to comment on matters internal to the UnitedStates, learn the effn language.
You would think a major airport would be using modern electronic locks that allows tracking on who is coming and going through every door, but nope.
They should have switched over to card access a long time ago. Costly to install but well worth the effort to not only eliminate situations such as this but to keep a record of exactly who is accessing what.
Might this be fake?
An excuse to change over to the expensive card access that they could not justify/fund while things were ‘working just fine’?
i am skeptical the keys were simply lost.
That’s what I assumed when I read the mangled syntax. And I would bet that’s the reason.
