WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he aborted a military strike on Iran because he it could have killed 150 people, a disproportionate response to Tehran’s downing of an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone.Trump said the plan was to hit three sites in response to the drone’s downing on Thursday, which Tehran said took place over its territory and which Washington said occurred in international airspace over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The drone incident aggravated fears of a direct military clash between the longtime foes and oil prices rose about $1 per barrel to above $65.50 on Friday due to worries about possible disruptions to crude exports from the Gulf.

I know — sabotage one of those swiftboats of theirs to make it blow up when it reaches international waters. That way, you tit-for-tat them for the drone, while retaliating for the capture and humiliation of one of our crews in the gulf during the brocko regime.

I don’t think Trump ever wanted to get into a physical confrontation with Iran.
I hate the notion of proportional responses, but in this case, I think he did the right thing.
It is hard not to sound cynical when one is indeed a cynic.
This process seems familiar. Sort of like the Kabuki theater back when the President might veto, was going to veto, and then didn’t veto the budget last year.
Don’t get me wrong. I am a Trump kinda guy. I just think it is counter productive to play to your base in this fashion.

He certainly knows how to play the US media. They want him to be an out-of-control warmonger who needs to be impeached. But — somehow — he just doesn’t look like he fits their characterization.
Leaking top secret information is treason and whoever leaked it should be arrested post haste.
Printing it is treason as well. Start by arresting those at the very top of the media outlets that published it.
He is not playing his base, he is playing the iranians.

I would support this if they made sure Traitor John Kerry was on board.
1. The U.S. drone wasn't in international waters, or at least there is some legitimate question about this point of fact.
2. President Trump knows that players in the U.S. government -- including Democrats using the Iranian government as a DNC operation and globalist Republicans who have been bought and sold by foreign interests for years -- are pushing for a military campaign against Iran for their own reasons that have nothing to do with the best interests of the United States.
Trump is right. They shot down a stupid drone. Now they got the message “don’t do it again”
Thank you President Trump, for not feeding the insanity of the neocon warmongers who you have allowed into your cabinet. Now, please boot them out before they cause real damage to you and US.
