While the truth might be out there, technological aliens don't seem to be at least not yet. New results from the most comprehensive Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program ever undertaken which surveyed 1,327 nearby stars for signals from intelligent beings have turned up empty.
"There's certainly nothing out there glaringly obvious," ... lead author of a paper about the results, which were published in The Astrophysical Journal, told Live Science. "There's no amazingly advanced civilizations trying to contact us with incredibly powerful transmitters."
While the team didn't find anything this time around, Price said that there could be many explanations for the lack of alien signals. Perhaps the search was conducted at the wrong frequencies, or those signals were hidden by radio interference from Earth. Any such undertaking is limited by the methods and discoveries that humans happen to have made in the course of our own history
The search was conducted as part of the Breakthrough Listen initiative, a 10-year, $100-million endeavor funded by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner that aims to scan the skies for technosignatures: transmissions or other evidence created by technological creatures on other worlds. The initiative, which kicked off in 2015, relies on two of the world's most powerful telescopes the 328-foot-diameter (100 meters) Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, and the 210-foot-diameter (64 m) Parkes Telescope in New South Wales, Australia to try to eavesdrop on alien communications.
In their latest data release, researchers analyzed 1 petabyte (or 1 million gigabytes) of data in both radio and optical wavelengths, looking at more than a thousand stars within 160 light-years of Earth. Several thousand interesting signals appeared during the search, though all turned out to originate from mundane sources, like human-made satellites.

Hundred years ? Our planet is about 4 billion years old. And we were not one of the first solar systems. Think 1 million should be about a good average for their advancement. And yeah, they might as well be gods at that theoritical age.
Cool. Probably instantaneous too.
“Life evolving to the point of intelligence may be rare enough that intelligent civilizations are spread out so much with space and time that they will never meet.”
Gazillions of miles of empty space, like good fences, makes for good neighbors.
In the movie “They shall not grow old” with the old WWI footage and old interviews, there is a guy talking about how they were told to march 5 miles to reach the tanks.
They were amazed when they saw them. They thought they were heading to a meeting place near some water tanks!
No kidding? That irritates me greatly, I loved the disappearing frogs night and then the disappearing brown bats. The reverse viewing and ghost stuff was cool. You need all you can get going through graveyard shifts. Hey! How do I know Art wasnt on the up and up and you arent the CIA deep stater? Damn theyre everywhere.
To make a quantum entanglement transmission technology that was detectable by everyone in range (broadcast) you would have to quantum entangle every electron in (for instance) the galaxy.
Possible I suppose to some far advanced society but I think someone would have noticed that by now.
Or maybe they sell subscriptions. Imagine that! The advanced societies are Capitalist.
Dont tell the Dims. They think that futuristic societies are all Commies.
Oh they’re out there watching us, but they don’t want to let us know — yet.
Not sure if you can count Einstein as “technology” but he was making headway into the nature of the universe at that time, if not years before the zipper or Lifesavers candy.
Not to be concerned, it is far beyond their ken.
"But I am not really willing to accept your premise, because it may well be that the means of communications they have are of a kind that we do not know how to receive, and that they would not have the means of communicating with sufficiently powerful radio or optical signals. That is something which, technologically, is too difficult for them but they would have some other means we would not recognize." -- Thomas J. Gold, 'Communication with Extraterrestial Intelligence' (Sagan, ed)
“The thing about aliens is they are alien.”
Who says and were is it written that aliens have to use the electromagnetic spectrum to communicate or if they do, that we would recognize their signals from background noise?
Besides, the absence of proof is not proof of absence. Just some rich guy’s hubris on display.
Could be the Dark Forest theory. That theory suggests that we havent been contacted because other civilizations have either been destroyed by a more advanced race or they are all hiding. And we just havent been discovered yet by this advanced race.
Discovery of us means a casual attack resulting in total extinction of life or the possibility of life in this solar system - best plan guaranteeing success is causing the destruction of the Sun.
We do not want to be found and if we find Someone we must destroy them before they do the same to us - a tenant of the Dark Forest theory, not my idea. For inquiring minds, please don’t ask for the details or reasoning - they are available on the web.
Please let me know when they show up. If it looks like a duck...walks like a duck...so far all results are bupkis class...if we cannot find any life out there....well maybe their aint none...
I asked him, what was God doing the day, the week, the month before he created humans? Nothing?
An omniscient Being who can and did create a universe by speaking it into existence was just sitting on his back porch in heaven doing nothing but sipping his mug of hot--albeit heavenly--cup of joe? He had never done anything, never created anything...was all alone except for attending angels?
Then one day (of a thousand years), all alone doing nothing FOREVER, having never done anything, he decides speaks humans--and no one else mind you--into existence?
I asked my acquaintance, "do you suppose that's even roughly the way it might have happened?"
My favorite was the alien in the freezer in the garage. Until the feds in their black SUVs showed up and took it. I’m guessing Art called them. (No wonder I couldn’t get in on the ‘west of the Rockies’ line that night!)
They’re all right here on Earth.
I wonder how many DNA tests come back 1/3 Space Alien. Heh.
Admit it. SETI is a giant fraud on the volunteers who make their computers available and a fraud on the sources of project funding.
The amount of power required to get a signal across the vast expanses of space that would still have enough power to be detectable on earth is enormous.
For solar systems beyond our nearest stars, multiple nuclear plants would be required to drive the power amplifier of such alien transmitters.
We just have to invent warp drive technology so the Vulcan come visit us! Yeah, I’m a geek.
More than a handful of angels. The bible indicates there are large numbers highly advanced, non-carbon based life forms out there.
Mat 26:53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,
Rev 5:11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.
