Democrats favor more access to capital for black businesses

Four Democrats vying for their party’s presidential nomination honed in on the economic concerns of the black community during a forum Saturday in South Carolina, a state where nonwhite voters will play a major role in next year’s primary election.

Appearing on stage one at a time, Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, and former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke all stressed the need to increase access to capital for black business owners as part of a broader effort to address wealth inequality.

Warren expounded on what she’s called her tax on “ultra-millionaires,” which she says would fund her education proposals, including student debt cancellation for many and additional funding for historically black colleges and universities. […]

Buttigieg focused on increasing the number of federal government contracts awarded to black-owned businesses, saying this would provide a major boost. […]

Before the forum, O’Rourke, Booker and Buttigieg spent time with striking McDonald’s workers in the Charleston area who want the company to allow its employees to organize. A $15 national minimum wage has become a popular Democratic campaign promise, but the party itself is split over putting it in place. …

What these guys are proposing looks a lot like . . . fascism, does it not. Government contracts, tax redistribution to businesses based on skin color, the same old tired minimum (maximum) wage game . . .

In areas like Ferguson, Los Angeles and the other areas where the locals rioted, burned, and looted the businesses that offered jobs and prosperity to the same people.

Sorry, people are not foolish.

“What these guys are proposing looks a lot like”... #1, Identity politics, and #2 trying to make the Repubs look like they are racist by voting against Identity politics, and special privilege for the Black Community. Just another dirty trick by the Democrats.

Call Soros, Steiner et al, if you want loans that will never be paid back, when the businesses fail. Quit wasting Taxpayers’ monies for bad business ideas and worse business models.

If these are such obvious and good ideas, then why did none of this happen when their icon Obama was president?????

And then when they can’t pay it back let’s call it “predatory lending!”

Yeah!

They already have affirmative action. Just tells blacks they aren’t capable of making it on their own. They will never learn.

I will not be surprised to see Trump support this.

Combined with his “Federal Jail Break” plan, maybe Trump can scrape away an extra 1% of the Black vote?

By the way....

I thought the Small Business Administration already handled this issue?

I just clicked on their Home Page - the first thing you see is Black female working at her small business!

Minority set aside contracts are the biggest scam out there. A few years ago, a bunch of my friends set up a government contracting business. They manage to find a front man who was some fraction of an Eskimo. Lo and behold, they got a $30 million, no bid contract set aside for Eskimo owned businesses. A total racket

I thought they told us a capitalist economy was the baddest of the bad.

Are they admitting blacks just do have enough up there to compete on a level playing field?

Same thing is happening, or gonna happen, in the marijuana biz when only a certain number of state licenses to grow MJ are granted.
A guy in the area found a black front man who admitted his only experience was USING the product recreationally, not even medically.
