Mysterious 'Bridge' of Radio Waves Between Galaxies Seems to Be Smashing the Laws of Physics...

The galaxy clusters Abell 0399 and Abell 0401 are some of the most massive objects in the universe. In a new study, researchers have discovered a 10-million-light-year-long bridge of radio waves (shown in blue in this composite image) linking them, and it’s doing crazy things to electrons.

On the big roadmap of the universe, bustling clusters of galaxies are connected by long highways of plasma weaving around the wilderness of empty space. These interspace roadways are known as filaments, and they can stretch for hundreds of millions of light-years, populated only by dust, gas and busy electrons driving very close to the universal speed limit.

Even when moving at near-light speed, particles should only be able to make it a fraction of the way down one of these filaments before running out of juice and breaking down. However, a team of astronomers patrolling a filament between two slowly colliding galaxy clusters has discovered a stream of electrons that isn't abiding by these traffic rules. In the gassy filament between the galaxy clusters Abell 0399 and Abell 0401, the researchers have detected a vast bridge of radio-wave emissions, created by charged particles whizzing down a 10-million-light-year-long road for far longer than should be physically possible.

The source of this cosmic traffic violation, according to a new study published June 7 in the journal Science, may be a faint but turbulent magnetic field stretching from one galaxy cluster to the next, providing a mysterious particle accelerator that's kicking electrons 10 times farther than they are ordinarily able to travel

I’m sure they’ll come up with some explanation to fit our already established “laws”.

The ‘laws’ of physics are based on our observations. Those observations come from only one spot in the Universe.

We have a rather limited ‘viewpoint’.

The best we can do is to realize that when the observations change, so do the laws.

...

So it’s not mysterious after all.

But thanks for posting an article that’s already attracted the cranks.

Turns out the potheads who said that the Universe is the same on a universal scale as it is on the microscopic scale, were right.

For a bunch of people who are prone to accuse others of stupidity for disagreeing with them, the astrophysicists seem to keep finding a lot of stuff that doesn’t fit ther “settled science”.

Despite what the 'media' tells us, Astrophysicists are in the business of new discovery. Nothing is 'settled' for them.

Climate scientists believe in 'settled science', and aren't really scientists anyway. They deserve your derision.

Nothing is “Smashing the Laws of Physics”. If something verifiable is happening, and the current laws of physics don’t include reasons why it should happen, then the current laws of physics are wrong and need to be revised, and then we’ll have valid laws of physics (until the next time when they need to be corrected.)

On the other hand, time and time again the current laws of physics have been proven to be accurate.

If there’s something we don’t understand, let’s study it and find out what’s happening before declaring Newton, Galileo and Einstein as old washed-up men.

No doubt it’s spacecraft. It’s the Abellians at 0399 Abell Way commuting to work at 0401 Abell Boulevard. Their economy is booming due to their Trumponomics.

I don’t think you’ll find any astrophysicist who believes in “settled science”.

“Patrolling” these speedy electrons reminds me of the story where some lady got pulled over for running a red, and she claimed that she was going fast enough that it blue-shifted and looked green. I always felt they should have let her off the red-light and wrote her a speeding ticket for the relevant speed! Then made her explain why the green was on the top of the stack and how her car could go that fast.

Yeah, but it’s kind of ionic, at that point he’s not really an atom, just a proton. Probably a Republicans, cause the electrons are a lot flightier and more negative.
