Residents of a neighborhood in Las Vegas got an unwelcome surprise in the form of an airplane door falling out of the sky and hitting an apartment building and car.
The incident took place near Nellis Air Force Base, which is just northeast of Las Vegas. It is unclear what type of plane the debris fell off, but it did not appear to come from a civilian aircraft.

This is the part that gives me a big laugh! It took place next to Nellis AFB (which isn’t anywhere near McCarran International) and the reporter “deduces” that it did not appear to come from a civilian aircraft! I mean can you imagine the mental acuity it takes to make that statement?
This would make a good “Flex Tape” commercial.
My wife and I were driving south on 93 near Coyote Springs when an Air Force jet buzzed us.
Granted, we were the only ones on that stretch of road. We learned later from my North Las Vegas Sister-in-Law that the pilots like to do that.
I remember it distinctly. I was driving, and my wife suddenly yelled “OH MY GOD!” when our car was shaken by the jet flying over us from right to left. He dive-bombed and came at our car from the passenger side. I remember looking out my window to see him streaking back up into the sky.
I hope nobody got hit by the doormat.
That is a CNN level of acuity!

I think it may have been the olive drab paint that gave him a clue..............

A long time ago I was on a plane that had trouble securing a door. They finally tied it down with rope. And off we went.
Just be glad he didn’t kick in the afterburners!.................
