Today, a new iPod touch has been announced, with an upgraded processor which will allow the little gadget to do more, including augmented reality.

Looks like an iPhone that doesn’t make phone calls. I’d prefer a Nano.
The Apple products are so technologically inferior. What is the attraction? I remember the fervor over the Sony Betamax and there was reason for it. It was far superior in quality, it did more and was way better. Is it just a fashion thing? Is that it?
Not good. Weve been waiting for the old iPod to come back because a lot of people arent allowed to bring cameras or WiFi devices into their work space. This is the same thing as gen 6, same size, everything a smartphone is without the ability to phone out, only newer so it will last 4 years longer than the last version. Apple isnt listening.
The new A10 processor, 256 GB storage, etc. Pretty good upgrade. Loaded over 1000 songs and 400 movies last night. I likey. Thanks.
(Just kidding...I go back to the original Walkman...loved having portable music. It's all on my Android now.)

They’re caving in to market demand with a headphone jack.
They stopped making the little shuffle. That’s all I needed.
: )
pings to you
Good news.
My 160gb iPod Classic has been great but I’ve had it for years and who knows how much longer it will last.
This just went on my wish list.
Isn’t offering something the market has long demanded a smart and/or sensible economic move as opposed to caving?

Compared to what?
My wife has an Android phone, I have Apple...I use PCs as well as Mac stuff and to me your comment makes no sense.
They have always struck me as an iPhone that does not make calls, or as a miniature iPad. I have no use for such a small media player, particularly for video. I still use one of my old audio-only iPods. My old iPod Nano (the one with a buttons on top) no longer works after the main button got stuck.
I would really like a small music player that can hold a lot of songs and has an easy interface to organize and play groupings of songs from my collection. I don’t think Apple has ever done a good job with an organizing interface. That’s the problem I think they need to solve.
I love the iPod product line. I know many consider it old hat now that we can stream audio on just about any other device. But I like the iPod as I can dedicate the storage to music only and not worry about having a Wi-Fi connection to stream my music. Also, I like to turn my iPhone off now and then - sometimes I get tired of the “always connected” world we live in. It’s great to spend a summer afternoon unplugged with a good book and your music.
I only listen to albums of songs on my iPods or iPhone. Most of what I listen to is classical. I never listen to classical music as "songs". Most works are things like symphonies which have several movements but need to be listened to in order as one work. So I have to create a "Playlist" in iTunes and then drag and drop the "songs" into the Playlist. It is time consuming and a PITA. I cannot imagine my wife ever figuring out how to create playlists in iTunes and synch them to her phone.
Lol....u are so right. I have 6 devices in my gym and travel bag. I need an intervention...
It's caving when their corporate aim was to force users to buy apple licensed lightning port adapters. Always follow the money.
