Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday defended his plan to triple the number of teens who are freed from city jails without bail on violent charges including armed robbery and assault.

“We’re ensuring there are real alternatives to incarceration, particularly for our young New Yorkers,” the mayor said at an unrelated press conference, responding to a question about The Post’s front-page story revealing the no-bail expansion.

This is absolutely sickening. This discharge from the anus of a diseased pig wants to put NYC citizens at great risk from first and second degree FELONS not having to pay any bail, being able to skip their merry way out of the police station and back to committing crimes. Any incentive to stop doing that will be eliminated.

“We need to focus on getting them on the right track. We need to support them. We need to make sure they’re being redeemed — not just locked up,” he said.

Oh. At the ages of 17-19, if they are committing first and second degree crimes such as robbery, assault, etc.---with weapons---being able to get out of jail without having to pay bail is NOT "getting them back on track"--it's making a mockery of the justice system. Being able to get out of jail without having to pay bail will also not "support" them nor ensure that they will be "redeemed". That is the same exact libtard Kumbaya thinking that "restorative justice" instead of giving suspension for serious misbehaviors would influence better behavior in the NYC school system. It didn't, it led to chaos, and so will this--but at a much more serious level.

Outraged as soon as I read this, I called my councilman's office. He is on the Legal/Justice committee. His assistant who answered the phone tried to assure me that this was not like it was written up in the Post. I didn't believe her. She claimed I was the only call protesting this. I don't believe that either, not unless every other NYer is so stoned on drugs that they are just laying drooling in a gutter. I asked her how this would prevent judges from being pressured to release accused felons without bail. She said judges would not be pressured. I don't believe that either.

Guess he wants to emulate Caracas, Vn., the most violent city in the world.

This has to be from The Onion.
If not, there must be civil and legal recourse for this Executive malfeasance.

De Blasio needs to be committed to a mental institution.

I'd rather get rid of the distinction between adults and juveniles particularly for violent crimes.

Now you know why even the Democrats don’t want him running for president in 2020.

I imagine the victims of these crimes live in constant fear of reprisal.

“...real alternatives to incarceration, particularly for our young New Yorkers,”

“Our young New Yorkers”, what an interesting way to describe criminal thugs. What about the young, middle aged and old New Yorkers the thugs robbed? At what point will the normals in NYC begin to get upset enough to change things?
