600-year-old 'world's most mysterious text' finally decoded by UK genius

A mysterious 600-year-old manuscript that has been deemed "unreadable" by the world's top cryptographers has finally been deciphered.

That's the claim by one Bristol academic who has cracked the legendary Voynich manuscript and revealed its secrets.

Dr. Gerard Cheshire believes that the document is written in a dead language called proto-Romance.

By studying the letter and symbols through the manuscript, he was able to decipher the meaning of the words.

According to the linguistics buff, the Voynich manuscript contains sex tips, info on parenting and psychology, and herbal remedies.

"I experienced a series of 'eureka' moments whilst deciphering the code, followed by a sense of disbelief and excitement when I realized the magnitude of the achievement, both in terms of its linguistic importance and the revelations about the origin and content of the manuscript," Cheshire explained.

He said that his finding is "even more amazing than the myths and fantasies" typically associated with the Voynich manuscript.

These include previous theories that the documents contained prophecies about aliens.

According to Cheshire, the book was compiled by Dominican nuns as a source of reference for Maria of Castile, Queen of Aragon.

Maria was a great aunt to Catherine of Aragon, who was Queen of England from June 1509 until May 1533, as the first wife of King Henry VIII.

What does it say? What language is that?

Brother Maynard, you're our scholar.

It is Aramaic!

Of course. Joseph of Arimathea!

-Of course.

-What does it say?

It reads, "Here may be found...

"...the last words of Joseph of Arimathea:

"'He who is valiant and pure of spirit...

"'...may find the Holy Grail...

"'...in the Castle of Aaargh."'

What?

"The Castle of Aaargh."

What is that?

He must have died while carving it.

-Come on!

-That's what it says.

Look, if he was dying,
he wouldn't bother to carve "Aaargh."
-He'd just say it.

-That's what's carved in the rock.

-Perhaps he was dictating it.

-Shut up!

-Does it say anything else?

-No!
Just "Aaargh."

LOL!

I always thought it was an old alchemical text - or an immature copy or parody of one. So many nekkid females are sitting inside of things that could be interpreted as alembics...

Hmm, they wrote about “psychology” 600 years ago? Interesting given that the concept of psychology as a field of study did not begin until around 1879.

The study of the “psyche” is probably as old as man’s self-awareness/self-consciousness is.

Thanks to this amazing discovery, the Page above can now be translated.  It was written by Sotworthy Seeburg, as can be seen where he autographed it on the right side of the illustration.  The following is a direct translation, enhanced with minimal punctuation for sentence separation.

now this aint no shit. you know the hot tub bath in the vestal virgin locker room?

well me and Jarrell Datson snuck up into the overhead plumbing and stuffed in a big basket of them blue pellets the nuns use to keep the water in the latrines blue so they dont have to scrub them so much.

incoming hot water went through the basket, see the illustration, and dissolved the pellets all at once. you can see the blue water coming out in the accompanying drawing.  it was hilarious.  if smurfs havent been invented yet then we made the first ones.

if anyone ever finds out, we are dead meat.

I read one treatise that said the plant illustrations were of plants found only in South America. Seemed legit.

Roman soldiers' very rude graffiti revealed near Hadrian's Wall

FoxNews.com ^ | Feb 27, 2019 | James Rogers | Fox News

An ancient quarry near Hadrian’s Wall in northern England offers a smutty glimpse into the lives of the Roman soldiers who built the famous fortification.

Archaeologists from the U.K.’s Newcastle University and Historic England are working to record the unique inscriptions carved into the walls of the quarry, which provided stone for Hadrian’s Wall.

The sandstone inscriptions include a caricature of an officer and a phallus, which denoted good luck in Roman culture.

Other carvings at the quarry in Gelt Forest have helped experts date the rare inscriptions. One inscription, for example, describes ‘APRO ET MAXIMO CONSVLIBVS OFICINA MERCATI,’ a reference to the consulate of Aper and Maximus.

This dates the inscription to 207 A.D., a time when Hadrian’s Wall was undergoing a major renovation, according to Historic England.
