Whats with this Archie business? Who ever hear of an English king, or any king, called Archie? Edward, George, Charles, James, yes, but Archie? Blimey. Its a comic book name, or a name out of the old Archie Bunker television sitcom All in the Family.
Even the London bookmakers were baffled by the choice. Their betting favorites were Albert, Arthur or Alexander.
While Archie is short for Archibald, what country did a King Archibald ever rule?
Not that the newborn Archie, the first child of Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 37 excuse me, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will ever become king of England

I believe Archie was named after Harry’s commander in Afghanistan.
Prince Archie is black
Prince Archie will never be King
Who really cares!
So the happy family will be living in Africa.
How bizarre. Nobody seems to be talking about that one.
Monarchs usually choose a regnal name when ascending the throne.
I think Prince William will be a great King - if The Monarchy survives his daft Daddy, Charles!
It makes us commoners giggle when we talk about RWT (Royal White Trash).
Folks say he was named after her cat. Thinking about her background...that makes sense.
Not that it matters, but the monarchs do not always rule under their own first name. George VI (Elizabeth II’s father) was named Albert Frederick Arthur George.
Consider what “multicultural” Britain will be like in forty years. There will be great demands that a “white” monarch can no longer represent or reflect the new population. There will be incredible pressure on the six white privileged claimants to abdicate in favor of the racially diverse Prince Archie. That assumes of course that a monarchy or for that matter Britain itself exists in forty years.
I believe Archies parents will divorce sooner rather than later, and little Archie will be raised in Los Angeles among his mothers own kind that is actors and other Hollywood types.
So King Jughead is still possible?
A few quick observations...
* Archie is a common name in Britain. Making fun of someone’s name is a bit juvenile.
* Archie’s chances of succeeding to the throne are roughly the same as winning the powerball.
* His parents want to him to have as normal a life as possible given who his relatives are. They have refused the customary grant of titles for the royal kid. (However he will become a prince and get an HRH when grandpa succeeds more or less automatically.)
On a side note since it was mentioned above; yes, monarchs have some latitude in choosing what name they will reign under. However by custom their reignal name must be one of those receive when baptized.
In 40 years a sultan/caliph named Mohammad will rule...
Jughead, Betty, Archie, Veronica...I used to read those comics.
Betty loved Archie, Archie loved Veronica and Veronica had a black haired boyfriend who is not pictured and I don’t remember his name other than he was a jerk...
And it affects me how? It doesn’t, but I’m glad they didn’t give him ‘Keyshawn’ or ‘Quadporto’ or ‘LaKwon’. (Yes I seen blacks with those names).
Victoria’s real first name was Alexandrina. Victoria is her middle name.

If so, then why do they continue to have titles for themselves?
One of the greatest gifts our forefathers bequeathed us is the abolition of hereditary titles. Those who criticize them should be rebuked for this reason if for no other.
