No. 1 and No. 2 Firebirds...
Gas Monkey Garage Holy Grail Firebirds
Here at Gas Monkey Garage, you know we love old cars, especially if they have a story to tell.
Last week, Part 1 of 2 of our Holy Grail Firebirds episodes aired on the Discovery Channel.
The Gas Monkey community is like a family, and when something exciting happens to us, we cant wait to share it with you.
And were more than a little excited that we found the guy who had the #1 and #2 1967 Pontiac Firebirds sitting in his garage.
As soon as we got the lead, we spent days on the Interwebs researching these cars, their history, you know, the whole enchilada.
Heres whats so badass about the two Firebirds:
1) The serial numbers for these Firebirds are 100001 and 100002. (Click numbers to see the build sheets)
2) We bought the cars from Chuck Alekinas, a former UK and NBA basketball player, for $70,000.
Chuck had bought the cars online and kept them in his garage until we found out about them and showed up at his door.
That price alone for the No. 1 and No. 2 Firebirds is reason enough to be excited about this.
3) These cars are Factory Show cars, as evidenced by the trim tag which says [LOR]Show1

After...
With an 11 gal tank the have about a 100 mile range. LOL!!!( I know this from personal experience )
I think I saw a gold version of that car in the Rockford Files, season negative seven,
I have a 67 Camaro convertible I’ve had since 1978 I am restoring now. Close to the same car as the Firebird.
It will be better than new when I finish. But it is a LOT of work.
My first car was a 1968 Firebird and I had a 1969 a few years later. Wish I still had them sometimes.
I remember that episode
A couple of years later.

Those H.O. Sprints are rare. I don't ever remember seeing them back in the day and from what I read it was a neat setup. Heck I saw more of the H.O. straight 6 Firebirds than I did these 1 yr variant.
Pontiac wonks please opine if the had been in them, driven or owned one. Thanks in Advance....
Ouch; ebay user restoreamusclecar has a feedback rating of 98.7%
That’s gonna affect the price. Should have found a seller with better feedback
A friend had one with the OHC six and a floor shifter. Nice runner. I wonder how many like that were made.
Think I could get airbags installed...to feel safe?
