The first two production Pontiac Firebirds ever built are currently up for sale, but if you want them, you have to buy the pair, because the seller wouldnt have it any other way.
The 1967 coupe and convertible spent their early days as Pontiac show cars before being released for public sale and have reportedly been together ever since.
They didnt lead a pampered life, however, and by 2014 were in pretty rough shape and not in running condition.
Thats when the folks at Gas Monkey Garage of Fast and Loud fame heard about them and bought the birds for $70,000 with a full restoration in mind.
The red convertible was the first off of GMs Lordstown, Ohio, assembly line and has a 326 V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission, while the silver coupe features a high-output 326 V8 and 4-speed stick.
According to Dave Hall, the owner of Pontiac specialist Restore A Muscle Car, who is handling the eBay auction, it took about a year to bring the numbers-matching cars back to factory condition.
After they were done, the Firebirds were sold on the Discovery Channel show, but Gas Monkey Garage owner Richard Rawlings bought them back a couple of years later and is the one offering them for sale again now.
The cars are listed with a buy it now price of $285,000, which is roughly three times the market value of similar, but less significant 1967 Firebirds, but the auction runs through Monday.

I wasn’t crazy about it either, but dad bought the car for me. (first car) didn’t want to change a thing about it. It was easy to pick up girls on Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach. Thanks for the pics. Lots of great memories
I had a ‘74 cutlass with the landau roof. Beautiful ride back in the day.
One of my dream cars is a '77 Grand Prix, with t-tops and bucket seats.
If I could ever find it, it would be almost exactly like this one...
I remember that episode
A couple of years later.

Those H.O. Sprints are rare. I don't ever remember seeing them back in the day and from what I read it was a neat setup. Heck I saw more of the H.O. straight 6 Firebirds than I did these 1 yr variant.
Pontiac wonks please opine if the had been in them, driven or owned one. Thanks in Advance....
Ouch; ebay user restoreamusclecar has a feedback rating of 98.7%
That’s gonna affect the price. Should have found a seller with better feedback
LOVED that car!!!
A friend had one with the OHC six and a floor shifter. Nice runner. I wonder how many like that were made.
Lucky you! A good friend had a gold ‘74. Not sure if he had the t-tops.
I would have preferred a spoiler on that car.
Think I could get airbags installed...to feel safe?
I once met a lady who was driving a silver Corvette with gold T-Tops. The License plate read “My Tops.” When I asked what that meant, she told me that her husband invented T-Tops.
I got number eight gazillion, with T-tops, so I’m good...
I know a guy who’s missing his right arm, maybe you two could work out a deal!
Just a little more than 11 gal., but back then with gas stations on almost every corner who cared?
I remember a small tank an 11, 12 gal tank. I don’t remember it holding 18 gallons. Memories fade.
