A meme posted to Facebook claimed that nearly every state that has legalized [marijuana] has also legislated that you lose your right to own a gun if you are prescribed it, or buy it recreationally.Pot legalization is turning out to be a back-door way for the government to get you to voluntarily give up your gun rights, reads the image.

Makes sense. Keep people stupid and unarmed. Easier to control that way.

No. Just makes them psychotics and possibly with deadly weapons.
That is my argument about gun control. If the government was able to disarm all law abiding citizens would they be as successful at keeping illegal arms from flooding across our borders as they were at keeping illegal booze out during prohibition, keeping illegal drugs out of the country today and for that matter keeping illegal aliens out?
Silly correlation.
Most states that have legalized are also highly liberal. The desire to remove weapons from the public is already embedded in their blackened souls.
No more or less dangerous than a raging drunk.
Ever seen a drunk person make up facts out of their butt and then proceed to act as if they were real?
Psychotic break.
*note- people are dangerous
So the central planners want us all high, unarmed, and compliant. Okay. Uh....NO!
The same way the pot game works the Mafia and cartels own that game the states get chump change.
The new game is we let you have pot just give up your guns.
And they say Hitler is dead.
A sucker is born every second
...under the influence is under the influence.
Here’s the deal Bill,
One could resolve to never again smoke pot, even if high as a kite last night, and lawfully answer No to the question of where they “use” pot.
If the subsequently backslide, they were still truthful.
“Seemed ridiculous to me to pass laws allowing use of marijuana in any state if it is disallowed by federal law. How is it that state law can override federal law anyway?”
What an ignorant post. Have you ever heard of the Tenth Amendment?
“Marijuana use can lead to the development of problem use, known as a marijuana use disorder, which takes the form of addiction in severe cases. Recent data suggest that 30 percent of those who use marijuana may have some degree of marijuana use disorder.18 People who begin using marijuana before the age of 18 are four to seven times more likely to develop a marijuana use disorder than adults.19” (NIH)
Like nicotine. Some folks smoke one cigarette and are hooked for years and others smoke for years and are not addicted and can drop them without any withdrawal.
“So the central planners want us all high, unarmed, and compliant. Okay. Uh....NO!”
It’s not the central planners pushing this, it’s public opinion. Until last year, every place that legalized was done by voter initiative. Drug warriors and politicians on both sides of the aisle have been best friends from day one.
There is some controversy about this.
Some research indicates heavy marijuana use can lead to withdrawal symptoms when people stop taking the drug, which would be addiction.
Certainly not as addictive as nicotine, heroine, or methamphetamine.
“Curiously, illannoy wrote into it’s medical marijuana law that a prescription won’t disqualify you.”
So the Illinois legislature has more respect for the RKBA than some FReepers.
Sad.
Trying taking Xanax every day for a year and then stopping cold turkey.
You will know what addiction is then.
I’m just kidding, don’t do that, because that is an actual addictive substance.
I will have to read that research later though, mark, because I am about to leave, but I intend to do that.
It likely will not sway me though, because as a former pill addict, I know what true addiction is, and MJ does not cause that at all.
The police chief in Honolulu sent out a letter telling registered marijuana users to turn in their guns.
It think the Chief has been "reasoned with" after considerable protests, and people who currently own guns will not have them confiscated.
It appears medical marijuana users will not be issued gun permits in Hawaii.
What a circuitous way to avoid the question. A paranoiac fail.
