FULL TITLE: Country House sensationally wins the Kentucky Derby after first-place finisher Maximum Security is DISQUALIFIED following steward's inquiry for impeding other riders

Country House has won the 2019 Kentucky Derby.

The long-shot horse, with odds of 65-1, was declared the winner of the world-famous $3 million race on Saturday, after Maximum Security was sensationally disqualified in a stewards' call.

Maximum Security crossed the line first, but its championship title was revoked after judges ruled that the thoroughbred had impeded other riders by changing lanes at the final turn.

The 150,000 spectators who descended on Churchill Downs in Louisville to watch the world-famous race were forced to wait for more than 20 minutes for a victor to be declared.

Shortly after 7 pm, Country House was crowned the winner after officials disqualified Maximum Security for the foul.

The shock decision marks the first time in the race's 145 year history that the victor has been changed on the day.

This is almost as bad as not letting Patrick Mahomes, QB of the Chiefs, come on the field in Over Time at the Super Bowl to see if he could make a TD to tie the Patriots. Now that is a ridiculous rule.

It looked to us like Max impeded twice, not just once.

Unless the jockey reached over and cut the saddle strap or whipped the other jockey like in Ben Hur,who cares?

The #1 horse, War of Will, is who got screwed. He obviously loved the slop at Churchill and was making a bold move for the lead. The way he was moving he very well might have drew off and won the race. He won his maiden at Churhill in the same slop, making the same move. He was bred to go the distance as well as any other horse. Just a bad day for the sport.

I agree. Country House didn’t have a chance in beating Maximum. And no, I did not have a bet on either horse.

Even if Maximum Security wasn’t affected at all, after watching the video, the stewards couldn’t just ignore that War of Will was impeded which resulted in another horse , Long Range Toddy being impeded. Maximum Sec. caused a situation that affected several horses and was rightfully disqualified.

You bet on War of Will and aren’t pi$$ed off. I really think he would have drew off and won that race if he wasn’t impeded like that.

I think Max Sec. was probably the best horse, but the jockey had trouble handling him.

Yeah, it looked like he had plenty of gas to do it. Must have gained a half a length in two strides right before the foul. Good call imo.
