Alright, that’s it! I can’t take it anymore. The Game of Thrones hype has gone too far when the Red Cross is camping out in local churches and offering commemorative posters to its congregants for donating blood. Seriously? Come on, people. Game of Thrones isn’t even thinly veiled porn, it’s just porn. Full stop.
Stop telling me how good the story is; you sound dumber than those guys who claim to read Playboy for the articles. Just admit what everyone knows: Game of Thrones is porn and you like it. I have no idea how anyone watches this show with their significant other without complete and total embarrassment. I tried watching the first season and called it quits during a midget orgy.

You can look back on old made-for-TV programs that were meant to be epic or historical, and they just look like...regular TV. I remember a version of The Odyssey that was done by NBC back in the late 90's. It had a pretty big budget, but it just looked like a made for TV movie. Even Shogun looks like regular TV fare. It had to do with the lenses they used, and the composition for smaller TVs, I guess. But GOT looks and sounds like a big budget movie screen spectacular.

Its awful! The only thing is gets right historically are Templars existed and there was a French king named Phillip.
I tried to force myself to watch it. The idea being medieval guys with swords are better then no medieval guys with swords. No! Not true! So didn’t complete the series.
Well, I don’t watch any series or even own a television.
I have a little player for DVDs though.

Actually, there’s no evidence that the Borgia pope poisoned anyone. Fifty years ago already, the historian Michael Mallett noted that the [I’m quoting wikipedia here] “only contemporary accusations of poisoning were from some of the servants of the Borgias, extracted under torture by Alexander’s bitter enemy and successor, Julius II.”
It’s ok, I know things get heated here. We all have some strong feelings.

Had you watched a bit more you would have found an interesting and enduring focus on religion. The characters struggle between an older polytheistic religion and an emerging monotheistic religion. Throw in a cult that follows a mysterious / creepy / and with some admirable tricks called the "Lord of Light".
But yeah, watch 2-3 episodes and go ahead and make definitive conclusions about the series. Why not.
FYI, the "nudity-free" Playboy only lasted a few issues. The nudity has returned.
Game of Thrones is overrated trash, but the solution is simple. Don’t give HBO any money and watch something else.
I have several thousand books. Watch basically 1 TV program a week - GOT. When it ends I will go back to none. Probably pick back up to 1 a week when Vikings start, but its really starting to annoy me! I used to be a regular South Park watcher. However got out of the habit. It seemed to be getting stale.

I never spotted any God in LotR. There is good and evil but nothing that looked like religion or God.
I assumed that was deliberate by Tolkien as he was a believer, eg he was involved in the translation of the Jerusalem bible.

I’ve been binge watching since Season 1, EP 1. Started about 3 weeks ago.
The series would be FAR better without the porn and the graphic murders/battles. It detracts immensely from the story and adds NOTHING.
I FF through the filth. It’s a better series that way.
Not because I’m super religious or because I’m necessarily offended, but because it simply does not belong contextually.
They should have just alluded to those scenes rather than graphically filming them. It would have reduced the play time by at least 1/3 and made a much better story.
Strip away all sex scenes and you still have a really well done well written show.
Methinks this author has never actually seen porn, and probably not more than 1/2 an episode of Game of Thrones.
