I never spotted any God in LotR. There is good and evil but nothing that looked like religion or God.
I assumed that was deliberate by Tolkien as he was a believer, eg he was involved in the translation of the Jerusalem bible.

True, there are at best some oblique references to it in the LotR novels, but Tolkien doesn’t spell anything out. The closest he gets is when Gandalf is resurrected, since he is obviously changed and not just the same old Gandalf that survived somehow. So that begs the question of who resurrected him.
I think the actual nature of the fictional theology is only explained in the appendixes and in the Silmarillion.
